Those living in Sabah and Sarawak will soon be able to experience the off-road capabilities of the all-new 2016 Toyota Hilux and Toyota Fortuner, as the Beyond Excitement event moves to East Malaysia, after last weekend’s event in Bukit Raja, Shah Alam.
The Sabah leg will take place in Kota Kinabalu at the open space opposite the Kadazan and Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA) between May 28 and 31. After that, the circus makes its final stop in Kuching opposite Puspakom on Kwong Lee Bank Road, Pending from June 10 to 12.
Apart from a ride across an off-road course – demonstrating the Hilux and Fortuner’s new Active Traction Control (A-TRC), increased ground clearance and 700 mm wading depth across various obstacles – there are also free gifts and Polaroid prints up for grabs, as well as other attractions such as a kid’s corner and food trucks. Admission is free, but there are only limited rides available, so best sign up for a Gold Pass.
To recap, the Hilux is available in six single and double cab variants, retailing at between RM89,900 and RM133,900, powered by 150 PS/400 Nm 2.4 litre and 177 PS/450 Nm 2.8 litre all-new GD turbodiesels and six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
Meanwhile, the Fortuner comes in two variants, priced from RM186,900 to RM199,900. Buyers can choose either the new 2.4 diesel or a revised 166 PS/245 Nm 2.7 litre Dual VVT-i petrol mill, mated exclusively to the six-speed auto. Both the pick-up and SUV come with several new features, including LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, a powered driver’s seat, seven airbags and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), among others.
