Grab users can now use the app in over 200 cities in the United States, the first time the service is available outside of Southeast Asia. This is possible with Grab’s collaboration with Lyft, the fastest growing rideshare company in the US. Lyft users will also enjoy the same function in 30 cities across six countries in ASEAN.
The roaming integration enables international travellers to access local on-demand rides, without worry of local currency, language, downloading a new app or setting up new payment accounts. Grab users traveling in the US will be able to book Lyft and Lyft Plus rides through the Grab app, vice versa. All rides are cashless and transacted via credit card or alternative payment options such as PayPal wallet.
The Grab and Lyft two-way integration will go live in the coming weeks, the first two-way integration to go live in the global rideshare agreement between Didi Chuxing, Grab, Lyft and Ola announced in December last year.
“Grab has always put the freedom of choice, flexibility and convenience in the hands of our customers, including providing a seamless travel experience across borders, as we seek to outserve our users. This partnership with Lyft is another step to enable seamless international travel, and it combines the strength and reach of our companies to cross-share learnings and leverage the best services in each local market for the benefit of our users,” said Tan Hooi Ling, co-founder of Grab.
The Lyft integration in the Grab app is now available. The Grab integration in the Lyft app will be available in the coming weeks.
