A teaser for the facelifted Chevrolet Colorado has gone up on the Chevrolet Malaysia Facebook page, indicating that it won’t be long more before the refreshed second-gen – which made its ASEAN debut in April – makes its official debut here.

The pick-up is already being previewed by Naza Quest at a Chevy stand in Naza Automall. Though the windows on the example have been blackened out, there’s no hiding the exterior changes, which consists of a new front fascia, with a revised grille, hood, bumper and slimmer headlamps to be found.

Though inaccessible on the show car, we do know that the interior gets a new-look dash and a redesigned centre console, with a new instrument panel and fresh seat trim also to be found. Material quality is up, with improved soft-touch materials on call.

According to that listed on the display unit, the local-spec Colorado will feature an eight-inch color touchscreen and the latest MyLink infotainment system incorporating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and auto climate control, LED DRLs, a reverse camera, front/rear parking sensors and a remote-start function are also on the list.

Safety kit includes traction control, ESC and dual front/driver’s knee airbags, and the local Colorado (in its high-spec configuration at least) will be equipped with lane departure warning, frontal collision alert and a tire pressure monitoring system.

The facelift will come with an updated 2.5 litre Duramax four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, now equipped with a Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT). Output from the Euro 4-compliant oil burner is 177 hp at 3,600 rpm and 440 Nm at 2,000 rpm, up over the 161 hp and 380 Nm seen on the previous 2.5L Duramax. Malaysia will also have a 2.8 litre Duramax variant.
