Euro 5 diesel remains B7 if B10 is a go – BHPetrol

biodiesel

During the launch of the improved BHPetrol Infiniti Diesel Euro 5 and Euro 2M, we asked the senior management of the company on the progress of Euro 2M B10 biodiesel implementation in the country.

According to company managing director KT Tan, the consultation process on the matter is still ongoing between the government, fuel suppliers and other relevant parties. Should the government mandate the sale of Euro 2M-grade B10 biodiesel (10% palm oil blend), BHPetrol will abide by its decision.

However, he stated that the Euro 5-grade diesel sold at BHPetrol stations will continue to employ the B7 biodiesel blend (7% palm oil blend). This echoes the same sentiment, which we reported on back in July this year.

Several organisations have voiced their support for the implementation of B10 biodiesel in the country, while others caution that the use of the blend could result in technical issues in diesel vehicles.

Several carmakers have also revealed that the usage of B10 in its diesel vehicles could result in a void of warranty. On the issue of warranty, the Malaysian Automotive Association has no issues with the implementation of B10 biodiesel, but only if its principals are able to provide warranty for their vehicles.

No, even if B10 gets implemented, Euro 5 diesel will stick to a maximum of B7 blend.

          abang teropong ni pandai.
once euro 5 gets popular, the volume of it will justify a swtich to b10.

Hafriz, that’s not what it says in your report.

“Should the government mandate the sale of B10 biodiesel (10% palm oil blend, BHPetrol will abide by its decision).”

‘abide by its decision’ means to accept the government’s decision. The word ‘abide’ means to accept and act according to the law, an agreement, etc – Oxford dic.

Unfortunately paultan has erroneously interpreted the sentence to mean that BHP will stick to B7 even if B10 is implemented. It’s not what the common understanding of the language says.

The next paragraph merely states that BHP will continue to use B7 for Euro 5 pending the govt’s decision.

I seriously doubt BHP has any leeway once the govt mandates B10.

Please seek clarification from BHP. Their statement is subject to different interpretation.

Thank you BHP for once again leading the diesel fuel market. You are the most valuable player to first make this announcement.

First to implement euro 5 in all klang valley and now first to announce euro 5 remains at B7.

That’s the progressive strategy that we need.

Our gov should only implement B10 after discussing with the relevant cars manufacturer. Please do not put the cart B4 the horse.
