Chevrolet Colorado – order books open for 2nd-gen facelift in Malaysia, five variants, priced from RM95k

2017 Chevrolet Colorado High Country 1

Naza Quest has announced that the order books have opened for the new Chevrolet Colorado at all Chevrolet authorised dealers nationwide. The company also revealed an introductory selling price for the second-gen facelifted Colorado, which made its ASEAN debut in Thailand back in April and which began being previewed here from last month. The pick-up is priced starting from RM95,000 (not inclusive of road tax and insurance).

The Colorado will go on sale here in three engine guises and in five different variant forms. The engine range starts with a 2.5L Duramax fixed geometry turbocharger (FGT) unit, the same as that seen before. with output remaining at 161 hp and 380 Nm. The unit is paired with a six-speed manual transmission.

The second mill, new to our market, is an upgraded 2.5 litre Duramax four-cylinder turbodiesel engine that has been reworked to offer better performance, fuel economy and lower emissions. In terms of output, the variable geometry turbo (VGT) Euro 4-compliant unit is good for 177 hp at 3,600 rpm and 440 Nm at 2,000 rpm. The third unit is the familiar 2.8 litre Duramax, which continues to offer 193 hp and 500 Nm, but now given a minor set of tweaks to enhance NVH aspects.

External changes include a new front fascia, with revised grille and hood as well as slimmer headlamps to be seen. Exterior colours available are Summit White, Black Meet Kettle, Switchblade Silver and two new shades, in this case a very interestingly named Pull Me Over Red and a more subtle hue called Blue Mountain.

Inside, the cabin gets a new-look dash and a redesigned centre console, along with a new instrument panel and fresh seat trim, with more soft-touch materials for trim to be found. Highlights include an eight-inch colour touchscreen and a MyLink infotainment system incorporating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Plenty of kit, with auto climate control, LED DRLs, a reverse camera, front/rear parking sensors and a remote engine-start function to be found on higher-spec variants. The latter allows the engine to be started using the key fob, allowing the cabin to be cooled sufficiently before occupants get into the vehicle.

There’s electric power steering, which helps create a more responsive steering feel, as well as a comfort closing window function. With the latter, the front windows automatically drop a fraction when the doors are opened to facilitate an easier and quieter door closing process by reducing resistance and noise.

Safety kit includes traction control, ESC and dual front/driver’s knee airbags, and the higher-spec configuration models here will be equipped with lane departure warning, frontal collision alert and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Naza Quest says that the first 100 early bird customers for the facelifted Colorado will be entitled to a complimentary three years’ worth of parts and labour services. The Colorado now comes with a five-year/200,000 km manufacturer warranty as standard.

Sorry Chevy, I just want 2 see if the comment section reach 10. If it fail to garner at least 10 comments, U better start giving BIG discounts.

Some may even say Big discount also not worth buying bcos of RV. Good luck to U guys in Chevy. The salesman in P1/P2 are doing roaring business by the sheer no of cars on the road.

Good intro Saneed. Despite all your goodies/high tech gadgets, the sales figure does not lie & the RV are indeed LOW.

Make no mistake S, I am not belittling Chevy but I think the marketing, after sales & spare parts are not up to M’sian expected standard of a ‘Global’ car if U get my drift.

Right now, the Colorado is the best pick up truck on the market. It’s a shame that it’s under Chevy. If they rebadged it Isuzu, it would sell like hotcakes.

Agreed with u. Better than ranger in term of road handling, engine respond & good suspension for the previous colorado. I assume this facelift would be slightly better as least except the brand name.
