Ford reveals power upgrade packs for the Mustang

Ford is now offering warranty-friendly power packages for both the EcoBoost- and V8-equipped Mustang. The upgrade kits are available for both manual and automatic variants of the Mustang, and help to enhance the performance of the pony car.

Starting with the power upgrade for 2.3 litre EcoBoost Mustang, a high-flow air filter helps to bring another 25 hp/95 Nm for a total of 335 hp/529 Nm. The kit also introduces gains throughout the powerband, including a 100 horsepower increase at 6,000 rpm.

Furthermore, the engine’s output is up 40 hp and 81 Nm between 2,500 and 5,000 rpm. From 5,500 rpm to the redline, the engine produces 75 hp and 87 Nm more power than the stock mill.

As for the Mustang GT with its 5.0 litre V8, there are three power package available, all of which bring a no-lift-shift feature to models with the manual transmission, enabling drivers to maximise acceleration by allowing shifts without lifting off the throttle.

The first power pack introduces a high-flow air filter and unique performance calibration that sees an addition 13 hp and 22 Nm being added to the stock engine’s 435 hp and 542 Nm. The second sees the addition of a cold air intake, 87-mm throttle body and intake adapter from the Shelby GT350 Mustang, which sees a gain of 21 hp and 33 Nm.

The third power pack, “for Mustang GT customers wanting to turn their car up to 11,” bumps the engine’s redline to 7,500 rpm, and with it, an additional 37 hp with a modest 7 Nm increase in torque.
