Aside from the facelifted D-Max range, Isuzu Malaysia also launched a special edition of the seven-seater MU-X, dubbed the Type-S, which is priced at RM176,640.41 on-the-road without insurance.
The Type-S introduces several enhancements to the D-Max-based SUV, beginning with the addition of body-coloured front and rear skirting, a rear bumper garnish, shark fin antenna, 17-inch alloys (with 255/65 tyres) and ‘Type S’ badging. Four colour options are available here – Splash White, Titanium Silver, Cosmic Black, Uluru Brown.
The special edition model also gets an expanded equipment list, with new items like keyless operation, an 8-inch touchscreen multimedia unit, new e-Lumax display, ivory-coloured leather seat upholstery and armrest, along with piano black dashboard and air-con vent trim.
The D-Max-based SUV also adds hill start assist on top of standard items such as ABS, EBD, brake assist, dual front airbags, ESC, and traction control.
The Type-S is only available in 2.5L 4×4 AT guise, where the powertrain is made up of the 4JK1-TCX 2.5 litre turbodiesel (136 PS/320 Nm), mated to a five-speed automatic transmission (with sequential shift).
Similar to the D-Max, the Type-S (and all other MU-X variants) now come with a five-year warranty, but with unlimited mileage (D-Max is up to 150,000 km). Saw the MuX… cheap interior doesn’t justify the price tag. Felt like a SUV with pickup truck interior. There are more better choices out there with a 176k budget. Getting a Sorento/Santa Fe/Koleos, anytime better than this.
