BMW has unveiled its range of M Performance accessories for the G30 5 Series, which is due to make its market debut in February next year. The accessories range will be making its market debut alongside the BMW M550i xDrive shortly after, and it’ll be available for all variants of the G30 5 Series sedan.

For the BMW 540i and 540i xDrive sedan, the BMW M Performance Power and Sound Kit increases the outputs of the 3.0 litre inline six-cylinder turbo petrol engine by 34 hp and 50 Nm to 360 hp and 500 Nm, giving the G30 improved response and acceleration without affecting its EU fuel consumption and exhaust emissions figures, according to BMW.

The kit includes a matching silencer system for a “striking, sporty sound,” along with tailpipe trim available in either chrome or carbon-fibre. There will also be the option of having just the M Performance silencer as a separate retrofit option for the 540i, 540i xDrive and 530i. This will include either circular or trapezoidal tailpipe trim in chrome or carbon-fibre, depending on engine variant.

A BMW M Performance Power Kit will also be offered for its diesel models, the 530d and the 530d xDrive. Equipped as such, the six-pot turbodiesel receives gains of 27 hp and 30 Nm to 292 hp and 650 Nm respectively, which is also claimed to improve acceleration and flexibility without impacting fuel consumption or emissions.

What picks up must slow down, and on that front the BMW M Performance sports brake system consists of vented and perforated brake discs gripped by four-piston, fixed caliper brakes on the front, with single-piston, floating caliper brakes at the back. The M Performance calipers are finished in red.

Housing the uprated brakes are a set of 20-inch M Performance forged alloy wheels, finished in either Orbit Grey or a two-tone combination. Staggered wheel sizing means the setup includes tyres measuring 245/35R20 on the front axle, and 275/30R20 at the rear.

External body components can be specified as either factory-fit or retrofit options, and includes carbon-fibre attachments for the front bumper, as well as a rear diffuser and rear spoiler also in carbon-fibre. The latter two can also be had in polyurethane, while side sill attachments can also be specified for the G30 5 Series.

Additionally, the exterior mirror caps can be specified in carbon-fibre, while black M Performance bars for the brake ducts, side sill M Performance stickers, and M Performance accent strips are also available. Inside, the M Performance steering wheel is trimmed in Alcantara with silver-grey cross stitching and a red 12 o’clock position marker, and includes shift paddles in automatic cars.

The rear diffuser looks awful, doesn’t integrate well with the bumper and with the car as a whole. It looks like a baboon’s butt. The front bumper attachments don’t look that much better also. Can’t understand why some people would pay the price of a small car for those ugly bits.
