2017 Honda EX5 Dream Fi Limited Edition – RM4,874

ex5broucher_fa-01

A limited edition 2017 Honda EX5 Dream Fi has been launched by Malaysian Honda motorcycle distributors Boon Siew Honda. Retailing at RM4,874.94, this special edition kapchai comes in a special paint job, along with other embellishments.

Unique to the EX5 Dream Fi Limited Edition is a pair of factory-fitted alloy wheels, shod with tubeless tyres. This is a popular aftermarket upgrade with EX5 Dream riders, as the tubeless tyres are more puncture resistant than the standard tube tyres on spoked wheels.

Being a mainstay on Malaysian roads since the 1950s, today’s Honda EX5 Dream Fi is the culmination of 50 years of kapchais, with its air-cooled, single-cylinder 109.1 cc engine. Fed by Honda’s PGM-Fi, the EX5 Dream puts out a claimed 8.35 hp at 7,500 rpm and 8.4 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm.

With this limited edition kickstart only version of the EX5 Dream Fi, Boon Siew intends to start a trend of collectible cubs for fans. In this case, the Honda EX5 Dream Fi Limited Edition also comes with chrome logos, as well as chromed passenger grab rail and headlight garnish.

Retailing at RM4,874.94, including GST, the 2017 Honda EX5 Dream Fi Limited Edition will be in dealerships from today, beginning in Penang and Kedah, followed by the rest of the country. The standard model Honda EX5 Dream Fi – with spoked wheels and tubed tyres – is sold at RM4,715.94 for kickstart, and RM4,959.74 for electric start.

My first bike was the honda ex5. It was using 97cc engine with 4 speed gearbox. Huge improvement compare to Honda Fame with 90cc 3 speed box.

However the latest ex5 seems to improvise in many areas including 110cc engine, efi and electric starter.

    Kudos to honda.

Wonder if Honda could finally produce the blue coloured Honda Super Cub concept which seen in the year 2015, which is a homage to the very first Honda Cub bike with its neo-retro style. That one will be very much interesting in today’s hipster era!

Used to own one before.Good bike.Economical,reliable.Only drawback is the engine vibrates at higher revs.Tried my friend’s bike, the same thing.Strangely the carburetor version doesn’t suffer from this.

This one usually for ‘small time’ rempit as ‘big time’ Rempit usually use nYamahai (usually 125ZR or RX-Z) or Kawansucky

    • Rempit would rather choose SYM Bonus over this one. Trust me

While other brand such as yamaha 100 sport, suzuki best or others brand in the early intro already gone, ex5 still remains stronger

  • Great basic bike. Gets at least 60km/L with my kind of riding. Nothing bests that!

    Kickstart only?
Whats the shape on top of the left engine cover for,if not mistaken such cover is to acommodate electric starter motor.

BTW,my Ex5 high power model still serving me till this day.

The good ol EX5…I think Boon Siew needs to get a bit aggressive with the styling. Looking a bit boring. Oh, and I think it’s time the good folks at Boon Siew considered having disc brakes for this ride. It’s 2016 la, not 1916.

That sporty rim doesn’t really fit with the overall body design. They should have put more classic rim design for this limited edition. They should bring a strong nostalgic element to it.

Would like to get one of these in the UK but Honda do not sell Super Cubs here. Hope they change their mind soon. If not, I will try to import one.
