Ssangyong Actyon facelifted again, new 2.2L diesel

The Ssangyong Actyon has been given another facelift for 2017 – the second refresh sees the C-segment SUV’s design morphing to match the new, smaller Tivoli.

At the front, there’s a more aggressive fascia consisting of reshaped headlights (xenon units optional) with 11 LED daytime running lights, as well as a larger grille – the new signature chrome wing flows into the headlights. The bumper has also been reprofiled with C-shaped fog lights and indicators.

Meanwhile, the rear bumper has been redesigned, and new 18-inch turbine design alloy wheel options have also been added. Inside, there’s a new instrument cluster – customisable in six colours – and a redesigned three-spoke steering wheel. Materials and trim options have also been revised, with a new geometric grain pattern on the dashboard and three-dimensional carbon-look trim on the door panels.

Equipment has been given a boost as well, with a new front camera joining the existing reverse camera on the options list. The optional seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone and HDMI connectivity has been retained, as has an optional Infinity premium sound system.

Under the bonnet sits a new 2.2 litre turbodiesel engine producing 178 PS at 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm between 1,400 and 2,800 rpm – 3 PS and 40 Nm up from before. The existing transmission options, a six-speed Aisin automatic and a six-speed manual, remain unchanged.

I have owned a Ssangyong Kyron for 5 years (and the long period I have ever own a car), and I can attest that is a very reliable car. Maintenance was higher than other makes but that is due to our poor Euro 2 diesel that mandated frequent replacements of the diesel filter.

The touchscreen infotainment system in the picture looked very well fitted unlike some other makes, including my Subaru XV, that are like aftermarket fitment.

In korea all i’ve seen were hyundai/kia/syanyong even samsung cars…(rebadged renault cars)…the country is proud of their own products…the men are so tall by asian standards and the girls are beautiful with sharp pointed nose…they are not your typical oriental people…they stand above the rest – chinese, hongkongers, taiwanese…at par with japanese in terms of looks…but the japanese win hands down as the most courteous people on earth…so polite unlike chinese people…
