Motorists travelling on highways operated by PLUS will have to pay their toll charges via PLUSMiles, Touch ‘n Go or SmartTag effective April 26, as cash transactions will no longer be accepted by that date, according to a Bernama report. The exercise is a continuation of the initiative which was implemented in 2008, and will involve 71 toll plazas between Juru (Penang), and Skudai (Johor).
“The system is much faster than the cash method, with SmartTAG and Touch ‘n Go lanes capable of handling up to 1,000 and 600 transactions per hour, respectively,” said managing director Datuk Azman Ismail in a statement today. Towards the end of last year, PLUS announced that all of its highways will adopt the electronic toll collection system by 2017.
Currently, 94% of motorists on the Juru-Skudai stretch of the highway pay for tolls electronically, and PLUS will take measures to ensure that journeys on its highways are smooth with minimal interference from the electronic toll collection systems, Azman said.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Why go electronic fully when half the lanes tutup? I see always got red light.
Does it mean the electronics also need to minum teh dan makan kuih lapis and take a break??
U must be travelling at 3am, or a parallel universe NS hiway. The real one i traveled, most times all r GREEN.
If use touch and go, shall give us some rebate for cash in advance
Toll at Kesas memang all working. But other areas are not.
Why are you getting downvoted lol. I also hardly seen any red light unless it’s past midnight (based on my daily experience travelling through Federal, NKVE, LDP, Sprint, Penchala Link and Elite)
Bro. Its the same “Kunta refresh page downvotes/upvotes”. I dun care if he waste his entire day doing it.
Or not working.. This morning the Damansara Toll had one Smart Tag lane not working. Green light, but then boom gate was open… Went through and now I need to arrange to get a refund because of their problem. Only in Malaysia can customers be penalised for using their service and the culprit get away with it.
Then dont use car and start use public transport. Lot of other choices too
It’s good to go electronic but need to improve more smart tag lane. And improve the smart tag device.
my instinct…the duta exit will be more jammed after this implementation…because..last time we have some buffer because of cash lane… now…no more buffer…will stuck immediately after touching…
The problem is the Reload Touch n Go lanes causing massive jam especially those narrow toll plaza with few lanes!
Then go and create awareness to public to reload early.
Take a moment to think about it, how dense are the road planners and companies to decide that it’s a good idea to set up barriers like this. Cars have to slow down to heaps in order to clear the payment. IF you’re using touch and go you actually have to stop, tap then accelerate. Not only is it bad for traffic, fuel economy, it emits a lot more carbon dioxide and pollutants because 1st and 2nd gear on cars afaik arent meant for fuel economy, even on a turbocharged car.
In more developed country, they don’t even have barriers. There are cameras and sensors replacing actual barriers and toll booths. You either stick a device that links your toll account to the sensor so when you drive over they deduct the money; or the sensor automatically detects your car number plate and deduct it from your toll account or other arranged payment.
IF, someone were to go through those said sensors without making any arrangement, the sum would be charged to the car owner’s address. (through insurance, drivers license and everything in between). Imagine driving without EVER stopping unless you absolutely have to. Such bad system in Malaysia we have.
Its a step up. And just 1 step away from ERP system that u mentioned above. Yes, need to stop at TnG but u no need wait for operator to count and gip back change. Thats where the time is saved and make flow faster. Its really is much faster now, esp at Batu3 toll.
Only the reload booths r crazy long. They need to rethink about that. In due time we will switch to ERP, then no barriers. But u will not notice toll being collected autonomously like in SG.
Won’t happen unless all th eauthority eg JPJ & PDRM integrate their system, then it is a possibility. Heard that in Singapore, they are testing GPS based toll system which will eventually replace their current ERP system and get rid of the gantry, once & for all
One more thing to consider even after we implemented ERP alike system. The traffic after the “toll”. That “Bottle Neck” after the combining the 12 lanes into 2. See LDP Penchala Toll…both ways in the morning and evening after work.

Yes but the stupid RELOAD LANES still create jam and dangerous eg at NPE Sunway the Tambah Nilai in the middle disturbing smooth flow of traffic, pls relocate to the left most lane!! Also, some Smartag lanes especially BET lanes at NPE and SPRINT always has poblem reading devices unless u travel really slow and pointing the reader at soecific angle ..staff sometimes ignore u and walked away…the highway operators dont seem to check or try to fix these poblems coz everytime i encountered same poblem
Reading problem most probably due to ur tint. Some tints (3M, Vkool, cap ayam) r not smarttag friendly. Need to go real slow then can detect.
Stupidity at its best, its ur own problem by having non compliance tinted yet blamed the sensor/reader.
Using TouchGo can SHORTEN the lifespan of yur power window imagine how many times u openclose everyday everymonth everyyear
Well, I wind down 4 times a day, 6 days a week, for 9 years on my Gen2 and still running fine since Day 1.
1.pls improve the smartlag system! And make it really smarttag
2.pls allow online reload and not the stupid way of reload. I really cant understand why we cant reload online.
No need to pay toll is the most effective way to reduce the jam.
Then u wont have the road maintenance anymorr
It will be a good move to implement cashless payment. However, all lanes should be in operation. A good example is Gombak toll. It has been cashless for some months but touch n go lanes are not operating in full capacity. Why are this lanes closed? It creates traffic congestion when there are high traffic flow.
Toll operators should go a step further in introducing tolless booths (or remove permanently which is better). In Taiwan, they scanner is even more compact than Singapore’s ERP. It reduces the need for a car to slow down thus reduce traffic congestion.
Bayar mau cepat using TNG……but after bayar toll, you’ll stuck in the jam for hours….
Touch n Go is still half baked solution in the country, want everyone to use prepaid card but implementation still want to charge rakyat additional 10% when use in parking lots. Duit sudah bagi in advance masuk account makan interest lagi mau charge rakyat… Giler tamak.
Nak bagi rebate pun not sincere, need rakyat to go check this and that rather than give straight away. Other countries ppl already Touch n Fly already mode after 10 years… Here still dili deli do slow2 because all these gov linked companies don’t want to be efficient in their objectives at all… High operating cost and subpar service delivery forever.
Cakap jer nak capai developed country status tapi all these top guns mentality macam 3rd world country, either category of tamak duit dan giler kuasa… or takut sangat buat yang betul dan nak cari makan jer.. Ptuiii
Since last year, go electronically , no cast. but , Y now again fully electronic ??/. The whole system need to overall. What TOUCH n Go ,? Not EFFECTIVE . Always , long lines waiting ?? If driver no card or card with not enough money, FINE,. DOUBLE ON THE BRIDGE TOLL. Many times, got struck driver without card, Fine more, hinder ,block traffic.
No lah.i experienced it myself, forgot to bring the TnG card, the toll booth assistant will request your IC card.
top up rm10, and you good to go.
you dunno our IC is integrated with TnG meh?..bodo betul
