The Chevrolet Corvette celebrates its 65th anniversary this year and to commemorate the milestone, the American carmaker is launching the new Corvette Carbon 65 Edition.
Available in Grand Sport 3LT and Z06 3LZ guise, only 650 units of the special edition Corvette will be produced, each featuring a host of unique exterior and visual cues. The package will cost buyers USD15,000 (RM66,532) on top of the retail price of the chosen Corvette variant and body style (coupe or convertible)
On the outside, the Carbon 65 Edition package introduces a Ceramic Matrix Gray paintjob, with convertibles getting a blue top. You’ll also find more carbon-fibre components on the car, notably the rear spoiler, side skirts and quarter intake ducts.
New black wheels are also part of the makeover, with Cup-style wheels for Grand Sport and Blade-style wheels for Z06. These items are complemented by blue brake calipers and the wheels’ centre caps brandish the Carbon logo. Elsewhere, there are unique fender strips and door graphics, as well as Carbon Flash badges and wing mirrors.
Moving inside, there are Competition Sport seats to go along with the Jet Black suede upholstery and blue contrast stitching. The latter is paired with gloss carbon-fibre interior trim, while finishing touches include Carbon 65 Edition sill plates and a carbon-fibre steering wheel.
Chevrolet also noted out several changes for the 2018 Corvette range, where the Stingray model now comes with new 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, both an inch larger than the previous standard wheels, and in five new designs. The Stingray also gets new interior colour on the 2LT trim and can be specified with Magnetic Ride Control.
Meanwhile, the Grand Sport gets ceramic brakes (without requiring the Z07 Performance Package) and the same interior update on the 2LT trim. A satin black centre stripe is also available with the Heritage Package. Moving on, the Z06 comes with two new wheel choices (Black Z06 wheel with yellow stripe and Pearl Nickel Blade), plus an available grey interior.
All 2018 Corvettes also come with HD digital radio as standard, an improved rear-view camera, enhanced heads-up display and an optional Performance Data Recorder.
Convertibles also get a new Spice Red colour for the top and said colour is offered for the interior on 3LT and 3LZ trims (with new contrast stitching colours to match). Finally, a new suede interior, carbon-fibre-rimmed steering wheel and gloss carbon-fibre trim is also available.
