Fresh from the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), Audi has its sights set on the next motor show, next week’s Auto Shanghai, with the slated debut of a new, as yet unnamed concept car.
Ingolstadt has so far released two teaser videos, showing the LED lighting that dominates the front and rear of the car. Familiar trapezoidal headlights (with directional indicators) flank the Audi singleframe grille, but rows of diodes below the main lamps are able to perform a light show of their own.
It’s the same story at the rear of the car, with strips that stretch across the car, performing a sweep one way, then the other as they light up. A cluster of LEDs under the light bars then illuminate in a rotating fashion before the whole array switches on. Even the four-ring badges light up – white at the front, red at the rear.
Apart from that, there’s not much to go on, but e-tron badging suggests that the car is electrically-powered. Audi chairman Rupert Stadler told Car recently that the brand will come out with no less than three dedicated electric vehicles by 2020; the first one of which, an SUV set to go on sale in 2018, was previewed at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show with the e-tron quattro concept.
There will also be a fastback model coming in 2019 that Stadler said is “not an SUV, but higher than a standard saloon,” making it a likely rival to BMW’s controversial Gran Turismo line. Seeing as this show car features a fast windscreen rake and a stubby rear end, it would appear that this is the model it is presaging. Lastly, a premium city car will be on the roads by 2020.

EV is the future while others wants a strategic alliance partner for it’s outdated products. Big markets like Americas, China, Japan, SK, EU, later India is going the EV way.
India, not so soon. I say ASEAN especially SG & MY might make it sooner than india cuz of better electric distribution infra.
agreed, I thought about it John what swayed me was the YOUNGISH market which is ‘huge and hungry’
