Besides the new cars on display at the 2017 Indonesia International Motor Show, there were plenty of interesting sights and a carnival-like atmosphere at Jakarta’s annual “city motor show”. There were halls full of accessories and booths peddling auto-related merchandise and toys. Even apparel – colleague Sherman gets his annual haul of Polo Ralph Lauren shirts at IIMS.
It’s a much welcome change of scene that we both look forward to, as covering motor shows live for a website can sometimes be tedious. The custom rides and classic cars brought in for IIMS 2017 were certainly eye popping, and we had to share a gallery with you.
Sharing a hall were the top builds from Indonesia’s two big car modification shows – Indonesia Automodified (IAM) and Hot Import Nights (HIN). Nothing is spared, from top dollar McLarens (check out the amount of CF on that 650) and Ferraris to budget Datsun and Daihatsu hatchbacks from the LCGC class.
They love their off-roaders here, too (we still have no idea what that “Evoque pick-up” started life as). The creativity and out-of-box thinking on display were amazing, a small glimpse of the vibrant tuner and custom scene in Indonesia. Guess the base of that six-wheeled “Lamborghini” and you’ll win a salute from us.
Not into Agyas with scissor doors? The outdoor area’s specially-constructed retro street scene had some matching classic cars on display, some parked by the “sidewalk” as props. Under the tent sat classic Chevys with rumbling V8s and long fins. The classic Bel Airs and Impalas were cool, but that four-eyed late model C1 Corvette was the star for me.
Oh, and there’s the small matter of a Koenigsegg CCX brought in by a grey importer. Do check out the custom bikes, too. Crazy stuff.

Wow….a 67′ fastback….
Is that an authentic shelby gt500 or a modified mustang….
Of course the looks is not original, inspired by eleanor….
So fun IIMS. This is why Indon Motor Industry has moved forward.
Now, besides Thailand, every car launch is done in indon.
Our KLIMS need to improve. Our KLIMS got no car launches also.
Our KLIMS good only for banks to get girls with short skirts to promote their credit cards. Everywhere I went in our KLIMS got only credit card promoters OR people selling motor lubricant.
We need to improve.
When need to pay to bring gud cars in, u say ticket too exp.
When got mod section, u say too ah beng.
When got decent girls, u say too tali
When got pipu work hard promoting, u say too commercial.
When see exp cars, u merunggut ur 2nd hand EX5.
Try see life more positive, work harder and dun wallow in laziness.
Before you advise others, you should take the advice yourself. If not bcoz of lazy worker like you, Proton would not have to ask billions more
Koenigsegg already purchased before imported to Indonesia. Certainly with a very expensive price
Meanwhile Malaysia masih aman, ekonomi kukuh, petrol murah, ringgit kuat. Motor Show tak laku, Hanya ader Vios & Myvi warna warni..
whats the base for the “lambo” then?
