Rapid Rail has announced that effective today, May 15, shuttle buses will be deployed to complement the KL monorail service. The shuttle bus service will be available during morning and evening peak hours, Bernama reports.
According to Rapid Rail’s chief executive director, Datuk Zohari Sulaiman, the bus service will be available between KL Sentral monorail station – in front of NU Sentral – and the Raja Chulan monorail station. It will also service Chow Kit monorail and Bukit Bintang – in front of Sungei Wang Plaza – as well as the Hang Tuah and Raja Chulan monorail stations.
Buses will be deployed at intervals of between seven and 15 minutes from 7-9 am and between 5-7 pm. A nominal fare of RM1 will be charged, except at the Hang Tuah integrated station for customers travelling from the Sri Petaling/Ampang Lines. Here, the fare will be waived.
“In addition to the shuttle bus services, commuters can also opt for the Go KL free bus services, particularly the Go KL Blue Line, between Chow Kit and Bukit Bintang, and the Go KL Green Line between KLCC and Bukit Nanas,” he added.
Zohari said that the shuttle buses are being introduced as additional travel options since the KL monorail line was operating with only two-car trains at an eight-minute interval until further notice, following the grounding of the four-car trains last Friday.
“We have identified several safety-related concerns on the 4-car trains and have demanded Scomi, the train manufacturer, to carry out all safety-critical improvement works and re-certify the rail worthiness of the four-car trains,” he explained, adding that station announcements will be made regularly to update customers on the service status.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Since 4 car trains are grounded, why don’t they increase the number of 2 car trains to increase frequency during peak hours.
Good for locals to travel to/fro work during peak hours
Good for tourists for ease of traveling around KL
Good for Rapid as it can attract more Monorail user and eventually increase revenue collected.
Win win situation.
2 car sets r outdated, deswai was replaced by 4 car trains. Somemore every replace of 4 cars with 2 cars means double headcount drivers to hire & training. Not easy.
No proper initial planning. Same like our TM and Syabas, everyday korek our roads. Should plan 20 years ahead and put massive tunnels of cables. Then next time, just pull more cables. No need to korek.
All pee brain planners.
Actually the whole of monorail line should have been stripped down and replaced with proper, bigger capacity trains. All running underground.
Monorail with these small capacity trains should only run on the outskirts of KL.
Just look at the line passing Bukit Bintang. Such an eyesore. That place could have been like those iconic junctions in New York or Tokyo.
i agree…even masjid jamek those….i still cannot brain how they allow those monstering lrt over the iconic buildings of kl
Scomi is in deep dodo. Train sets have problem, signaling system have problem, automated barrier system that was installed but not function have problem, and endless dispute with Gov.
Whose company is it?
