Renault Megane RS shown testing out in the cold

The new Renault Megane RS will only be unveiled at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, which is still a few months way. Therefore, the French carmaker has decided to release more teasers of the hot hatch to hold our interest until then.

This latest batch of images shows a Megane RS test mule as it undergoes testing in cold conditions, all while wearing camouflage that differs heavily from the Renault Sport-themed car that made its first public appearance at the recent Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.

Familiar highlights continue to feature here, including the C-shaped LED daytime running lights, LED lights following the Renault Sport motif, and centre-mounted exhaust tips. No interior pics as of yet, so you’ll have to wait until September to see what Renault Sport has done to inject some sportiness into the cabin.

Neither is there any details about what will power the new Megane RS, although it has been suggested a 2.0 litre turbo engine with over 300 hp (the previous one topped out at 275 hp and 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds) will be fitted.

Transmission options will include automatic (Renault’s EDC dual-clutch transmission) for the first time alongside a six-speed manual, with drive going to the front wheels. Naturally, the Megane RS will be gunning to take down the Civic Type R, which currently holds the Nurburgring FWD record with a time of 7 minutes 43.80 seconds.
