New Suzuki Swift Sport – more official photos released

Suzuki has released more photos of the upcoming Swift Sport, set to make its debut at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. Most of the photos are exactly as the ones seen in a brochure that was leaked online recently, and shouldn’t be much of a surprise by now.

On the exterior, the Swift Sport gets its own styling cues to differentiate it from a standard Swift, most noticeably by its new face (bumper, grille and fog lamps). The car also gets dual exhaust pipes at the rear to reflect its sportier persona as well.

The Swift Sport’s interior also features a few modifications, starting with red-coloured trim on the dashboard. Said colour is a running theme in the cabin, as you’ll see in the instrument cluster, engine start/stop button and contrast stitching on the new Swift Sport-specific seats.

As for the vehicle controls, there’s a flat-bottomed steering wheel just like a standard Swift, although it does come with gloss black trim and a different leather wrap. To the left, you’ll find the gear shifter for the six-speed manual transmission, confirming one of the car’s technical aspects.

What remains unknown is the engine that will be under the hood of the Swift Sport. Based on the digital boost gauge in the instrument cluster, the powerplant will clearly be turbocharged, although we can’t confirm its actual capacity. Rumours point towards a 1.4 litre BoosterJet four-cylinder from the Vitara S that churns out 150 PS and 245 Nm.

Sad that Proton cerai and threw Suzuki into the Tong Sampah after Proton fell in love with China doll Geely. Suzuki is so angry.

They wanted to give Proton the rights to rebadge all their cars. Imagine, we could have the Vitara, Swift with Proton badges and Proton prices.

Proton oh Proton, you have had so many MOU. Mitsubishi, Renault, Citroen, VW, and so many more…..soon Geely also will be history.

No staying power. Small problem only talak talak talak

I think they now pretty well that this new marriage cannot fail. If this fails, then Proton will be consigned to just selling A, B and C segment cars only, the Accord run won’t go any longer judging by current sales.

It remains too heavy a burden for tax payers’ money.

Proton and all car brands and their prices are politically decided. Unlike other countries where market forces decide on car prices, here in Malaysia, MITI decides on car prices.

They actually tell Honda, Toyota, BMW and Merc what to price their cars.

So, everything about cars in Malaysia is politics.

The interior is quite a looker. Wish i can have it in my ’08 Swift Sport. Lol. Fun car to drive. Twitchy both throttle and brake response that makes you ‘Opocot’ even with a slightest push on the pedal. The steering feels less assisted and it gives the sporty and raw driving experience. It’s a perfect car for sports driving as it has stiff suspension on it making the tyres grips on fast corners. Dont complain about bumpy if you want the sport feeling. However, I could’t find any ESP button. Lol. And it feeds minimum RON98 instead of minimum of RON95 for the newer models. Overall, I love it.
