Recently launched and proving to be a firm favourite with local riders is the 2017 Yamaha NVX 155, as evidenced by the interest shown by fans on Facebook and paultan.org. We had our hands on the NVX, and a full review and video will be released shortly.

In the meantime, Hong Leong Yamaha Malaysia has not been idle, and saw fit to “dress up” three NVX 155s in special livery. These take the form of two anniversary specials, the 50th and 60th, as well as a single model finished in gothic brown skulls.

The bad news is these three special livery NVX 155 scooters are not for sale. However, they can be viewed this weekend at the GT-Max showroom in Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam, Selangor, the weekend of August 26.

Launched at Sepang International Circuit by Valentino Rossi last year, the Yamaha NVX carries a 155 cc, single-cylinder engine with variable valve actuation rated at 14.8 hp at 8,000 rpm and torque is claimed to be 14.4 Nm at 6,000 rpm. Power gets to the ground via a CVT gearbox, and front-wheel ABS is standard.

A 25-litre storage compartment can be found under the seat, along with front glovebox containing a 12-volt socket, and full LCD screen in the cockpit. The NVX 155 also features keyless start, remote opening fuel cover and seat, with engine start-stop as part of Yamaha’s Blue Core engine design for improved fuel economy.

There are three colour choices for the NVX – Black, Red and Blue. The 2017 Yamaha NVX 155 has a recommended retail price of RM10,500 including GST, but excluding road tax, insurance and registration, and will be available at official Hong Leong Yamaha dealers soon.
