Road closures around KL to upgrade Jalan Tun Razak

Several roads in Kuala Lumpur will be closed from October 6, 2017 until January next year to facilitate upgrading works along Jalan Tun Razak. This is according to Syarikat Mengurus Air Banjir & Terowong (SMART) in a report by Bernama.

In an official statement from SMART, the road closure by Gadang CRFG Consortium involved Jalan Tun Razak, road exit to Kampung Pandan Roundabout and Jalan Davis. “The closure is for upgrading works to improve traffic flow in the city at Jalan Tun Razak from Jalan Langgak Golf to Kampung Pandan Roundabout and Tun Razak Exchange (TRX),” said SMART.

Motorists from the direction of Seremban, Cheras and Sungai Besi are advised to use alternative roads like the SMART Highway to enter areas in the city centre like Jalan Tun Razak, KLCC and Bukit Bintang. On the other hand, those exiting the Kuala Lumpur city centre can use the SMART Highway to avoid traffic congestion at Jalan Davis and Bukit Bintang.

If they want to bottle neck one of the major arteries in KL, they should reduce the price of SMART tunnel, even if its temporarily, you cannot inconvenience so many people and still profit from causing said trouble. It is ridiculous adding an additional 40 mins to and from the city during Rush hour. The jam has been extremely bad. And if you were to come from the south and take an alternative route, there is the DUKE construction nuisance on Jalan Ampang. Absolutely garbage planning and DBKL should not allow too many main roads being worked on at the same time in such a close vicinity.

    • Most users going that direction alredi use Smart tunnel to avoid jam. So no diff to majority road users there.

This is a very stupid comment. Not all users use Smart. Considering its quite expensive to save 5-10 mins tops previously.

        • For lotsa pipu working in CBD, their 5-10mins is more valuable ($$$) than the toll saved and the 15~20 mins jam daily.

  • should be free for Smart tunnel then until the construction works completed. Or at least 50% discount

My issue is the word UPGRADING considering the maximum period for the upgrade is 4 months from 6/10/2017 to maybe 31/01/2018 despite it being November 2017 now, thus a bit more elaboration of this upgrade would be useful/helpful.

Use SMART tunnel to avoid jam? Whoever use the smart tunnel during the rush hours in the morning will know the tunnel is jam like hell in the morning.
