For next year’s North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), Lexus will introduce the LF-1 Limitless concept, which is said to preview a new flagship crossover for the brand.
Currently, the LX is recognised as the range-topping model in Lexus’ SUV line-up, followed by the GX, RX and NX. As the third-generation LX has been around for a decade or so, a replacement is likely overdue, and the LF-1 Limitless might just be that.
The carmaker is withholding as much information as it can for now, merely stating the concept “heralds a new genre of luxury crossover” and that it “seeks to redefine the boundaries of luxury.”
A teaser image accompanies the short release, giving us a glimpse of the concept’s dramatic design. Highlights include taillights that stretch across the width of the vehicle’s rear, a two-piece roof spoiler, a sculpted rear section, blue-illuminated badging and digital displays in the cabin.
According to Lexus, the concept is the work of CALTY Design Research, Toyota’s North American Design branch, which has a design studio in Southern California. These are the same folks responsible for the Toyota FT-1 concept.
