Mercedes-Benz USA has come up with a video brochure of the 2018 W222 S-Class facelift, showcasing the changes brought about by the mid-cycle refresh, which was revealed last April.
The video presents the S-Class as limousine in its S 560 form and as a driver-oriented offering in its performance-based Mercedes-AMG S 63 4Matic+ guise. The former is powered by a new M176 4.0 litre biturbo V8 offering 469 hp and 700 Nm of torque, while the S 63’s 4.0 litre biturbo V8 engine (shared with the AMG GT, C 63 and E 63) provides 612 hp at 5,500-6,000 rpm and 900 Nm of torque at 2,750-4,500 rpm.
Key exterior elements in the S-Class rework are highlighted, and these are a newly-designed grille as well as new front/rear bumpers and new headlights and tail lamp assemblies. Of course, it’s all about the inside and levels of plush with the cabin, which provided the inspiration for Emirates Airlines’ redesigned First Class suites in its Boeing 777 fleet.
Mention is made of the executive rear seat package, the 64-colour LED ambient lighting as well as the new Energising Comfort feature and Air Balance fragrance/purification systems available for the car, which rides on Magic Body Control as standard on higher spec variants.
Interior revisions include a new three-spoke steering wheel, complete with touch control buttons, and there’s
inductive wireless charging, in-car WiFi hotspot and dual hi-resolution 12.3-inch displays integrated behind a single glass panel.
