If you’ve been hoping for Fifth Gear to make a return after its long hiatus, good news! The alternative to the vastly popular Top Gear is set to air in September this year, following a tweet posted by Tiff Needell.
The show’s host and racing driver will be joined by familiar faces, including Vicki Butler-Henderson, Jonny Smith and two-time British Touring Car champion, Jason Plato. On paper, the quartet certainly appears to have more driving talent than the boys at Top Gear and The Grand Tour.
The return of Fifth Gear comes after a three-year hiatus when the show was cancelled in 2015. It originally aired on Channel 5 before moving to Discovery Channel and then to History, with over 200+ episodes across 26 series.
While Top Gear proved to be more popular among the two car shows at the time, some consider Fifth Gear to be the more informative car show. Of course, appeal is a subjective matter but let’s all be thankful that we’ll have three different car shows to enjoy this year.
Did some filming yesterday for a new series of … @FifthGearTV!! Yes, after a three year break we’re back for more in September.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Some people like Top Gear. Some like Auto Trend. Others like AutoCars. If 5th gear make a return, it will be a bonus for Motor readers. Great choices to appease different readers. I say bring it back.
I still like Driven and how PT and team present their facts.
Driven is still the best auto show to me.

Come on lads!
Great show minus the facial expressions, drama and ‘i am so adorable’ Vicky Henderson.
I like fifth gear!
Fifth Gear is my favourite…
