SPYSHOTS: B9 Audi A4 Avant facelift seen testing

The B9 Audi A4 was introduced just three years ago in 2015, but a prototype of the facelifted model has already been sighted by our European spy photographers.

Now, apart from wearing a camouflaged front bumper, everything else on the car, including the lights, remain as per the outgoing A4 model. The front bumper here is actually new but differs very slightly from the one currently fitted to the A4 Avant. Keen eyes however, will be able to tell that the rear diffuser is new, as are the twin hexagonal exhaust tips.

Usually, facelifted Audis get new front and rear bumpers, as well as new headlights and tail lights with redesigned graphics. Although not present here, these changes are expected. The cabin could also receive minor tweaks to keep things fresh, but the dual-screen layout featured on the A6, A7 and A8 will most likely be omitted, at least until the B10 A4 comes around.

For powertrain, the existing range of petrol and diesel engines should continue to be offered. In Malaysia, the A4 line-up starts with the 1.4 litre TFSI four-cylinder petrol, which makes 150 hp at 5,000 to 6,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 1,500 to 3,500 rpm. It has a top speed of 210 km/h.

The 2.0 litre TFSI variants come in two states of tune, a 190 hp/320 Nm for the front-wheel drive version and a hotter 252 hp/370 Nm for the quattro all-wheel drive model. With the GST rollback, prices for the A4 have gone down by up to RM18k.
