Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid, Tucson SUV get 0% GST price guarantee for bookings made before Aug 31 – no SST

Those who place bookings for the Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid and Tucson SUV will get price guarantees, locking in today’s 0% GST price even if deliveries happen after September 1. Prices are expected to increase industry-wide with the reintroduction of sales and service tax (SST) in September.

Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) says the price guarantee is applicable for bookings made on or before August 31. For the Tucson, it’s only available for the Turbo and Elegance variants.

The 0% GST prices for the Ioniq is RM94,788 and RM109,988 for the Plus variant. The Tucson Elegance is yours for RM119,188 while the Tucson Turbo goes for RM137,488, all on-the-road excluding insurance. All HSDM Hyundais come with a five-year or 300,000 km warranty. The Ioniq gets 60,000 km free service, while the Tucson is entitled to 50,000 km free service, both with a three-year validity.

“With our stock for the Ioniq Hybrid and Tucson fast depleting, we will need time to replenish the stock in order to fulfill customers’ demands. It is only fair that HSDM absorbs the SST for orders placed by August 31, even for vehicles delivered after the SST takes effect,” said Dennis Ho, MD of Sime Darby Motors in Malaysia, Thailand and Taiwan.

Could PT get some feedback from car’s brand like Toyota, Honda, VW if they have plans to follow Mazda in absorbing the SST for bookings before 1st Sept. So far, only Hyundai has responded after Mazda announcement.

the ioniq will be a great car if it has higher output. for a 1.6 with 140hp, it is miserable especially the top speed is only 185kmph and 0-100 in 11 seconds. it should be at least 160hp.
