Range Rover Velar 3.0L R-Dynamic in M’sia – RM723k

Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia has officially introduced the final variant of the Range Rover Velar range with the P380 R-Dynamic, which joins the two existing options that were made available in April this year. The new variant retails at RM722,787 excluding road tax, registration and insurance, but includes a five-year warranty, five-year free service and three-year roadside assistance.

Under the bonnet of the new variant is a 3.0 litre supercharged V6 petrol engine that serves up 380 PS at 6,500 rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. The six-cylinder mill is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system – the latter features the marque’s Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD) and Terrain Response system.

The P380 R-Dynamic boasts a zero to 100 km/h time of just 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h, making it faster than variants with the P250 2.0 litre four-cylinder Ingenium engine (6.7 seconds, 217 km/h top speed).

Aside from higher levels of performance, there’s also four-corner air suspension that allows the vehicle’s ride height to be altered by up to 50 mm to make ingress/egress or cargo loading easier. The system also lowers the vehicle by 10 mm at speeds above 105 km/h to help reduce aerodynamic drag.

In terms of exterior equipment, standard items include Matrix LED headlamps, flush retractable door handles, a hands-free powered tailgate, 21-inch ten-spoke ‘Style 1033’ wheels, as well as an R-Dynamic styling kit – bolder front bumper, twin chrome exhaust finishers and R-Dynamic badging.

On the inside, you’ll find an InControl Navigation Pro infotainment system that works with the Touch Pro Duo system, which employs two 10-inch touchscreens, which are integrated seamlessly behind a glass-like surface to remain hidden until lit. Another display is a 12.3-inch unit for the Interactive Driver Display in the instrument cluster.

Other items include 10-way powered seats (driver seat memory function), ambient lighting, 825-watt, 17-speaker Meridian sound system, dual-zone climate control, Intelligent High Beam Assist, Morzine headliner, a head-up display, Windsor leather upholstery and a panoramic sunroof.

Safety-wise, it’s pretty much the same as the P250-powered variants, with six airbags, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Electronic Traction Control (ETC), Roll Stability Control, Cornering Brake Control (CBC), ABS with EBD, and rear Isofix child seat anchors.

A plus for the P380 R-Dynamic is the inclusion of the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Stop & Go and Emergency Braking system. The second feature operates at speeds between 10 to 160 km/h; if the radar detects an imminent collision, it will sound an audible alert to the driver and, if the driver doesn’t take any avoiding action, the vehicle will automatically brake in order to prevent/mitigate a collision.

The LR hardly sell because competition gets stiffer as price is very overpriced. People lured by Volvo and BMW than LR.
