A90 Toyota Supra leaked well ahead of debut next year

If you’ve grown incredibly impatient waiting for Toyota to unveil the fifth-generation A90 Supra, there’s now some relief. Recently, a photo of an uncovered (and possibly production) unit was posted on the SupraMKV forum, giving us our first look at what customers will be getting their hands on when the Supra officially goes on sale.

The car in question is being unloaded from a transporter truck, so only the front end is clearly visible to us. Right off the bat, there’s no denying the finished product draws heavy inspiration from the FT-1 concept that debuted way back in 2014, which isn’t much of a surprise given the numerous spyshots of test mules we’ve seen.

Design cues that are similar to the concept include a protruding nose and three-element headlamps, with the latter being sized larger and feature vents beside them.

The lower apron is a little different, with an additional air intake in the centre for a total of three instead of just the two on the concept. The corner inlets are made smaller too, and are highlighted by body-coloured “blades” that start from below the Toyota badge.

Elsewhere, the double-bubble roof and sculpted bonnet are still present, although the transparent panel into the engine bay has been omitted. The side mirrors are also more conventional in appearance too, and they are painted black along with the A-pillars.

The rear should also mimic the FT-1, as suggested by previous teasers and prototypes posted up already. Nonetheless, we’ll have to wait for next year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit to finally bring the close-to-12-year-wait to an end. For now, do you like what you see?
