Brabus 700 4×4² Final Edition – 700 hp, 960 Nm SUV

Brabus 700 4×4² Final Edition – 700 hp, 960 Nm SUV

There may be a new generation of uber-fast Gelandewagen in the shape of the latest Mercedes-AMG G 63, which our man Jonathan Lee has sampled in the south of France, but Bottrop-based Brabus is having one last crack at its predecessor with the 700 4×4² Final Edition. Mercedes-Benz have not previously made a full AMG version of its G 500 4×4², though Brabus had offered its own take on that model before.

Here it is now, in all its 5.5 litre, turbocharged V8 glory, which has been tuned to churn out 700 hp at 5,300 rpm and 960 Nm of torque from 2,000 rpm to 4,500 rpm. Sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic, the outputs will propel the portal-axled SUV from 0-100 km/h in five seconds flat, and onwards to an electronically-limited top speed of 200 km/h.

To attain the performance gains, the stock turbochargers have been replaced by Brabus items, each with a larger compressor to achieve higher boost pressure. Gold sheathing is used to reflect heat from the intake and boost pipes and lower intake air temperature, while the exhaust side gets special high-performance catalytic converters and 75 mm-wide downpipes. The G 700 4×4² Final Edition can be further optioned with a stainless steel exhaust system with active flaps.

Electronically adjustable Brabus suspension is tasked with corralling the added performance and height of the G 700 4×4² Final Edition, and which allows the driver to choose between Comfort, Sport, Off-Road and Individual modes, the latter allowing adjustment of damping rates for each axle individually. Skid plate elements protect the engine, driveline and fuel tank from damage during heavy off-road use.

Rolling stock comes courtesy of 9.5J x 22-inch wheels shod in 325/55R22 Pirelli Scorpion ATR tyres. Inside, the high-speed, even higher-riding G-Wagen gets two-tone black and light brown leather upholstery. Owners, however, can specify customised leather trim patterns and colours.

Additionally, Brabus also offers wood and carbon-fibre trim in a range of colours and patterns, the company says. Given the portal-axled SUV is a tall vehicle by OEM standards, power-retractable side steps can be specified. Starting from 209,000 Euros before taxes, the price of admission is about as lofty as the G 700 4×4² Final Edition itself. Would you make the leap?

Thanks for sharing this blog. It’s features like hill descent control and low range. It’s shape to accommodate long suspension travel, and hoods that slope away from the driver for visibility you can even see over other traffic,
