Toyota Hilux Black Rally Edition, TRD parts revealed

At the 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon, Toyota will present the Hilux Black Rally Edition, which serves to celebrate the pick-up truck’s participation in the Asia Cross Country Rally. The special Hilux comes fitted as standard with a range of TRD parts, some of which will be offered for standard Hilux models as well.

The Hilux Black Rally Edition sports a unique front bumper, grille, red fog lamp surrounds, as well as a TRD-branded skid plate at the front. In other areas, there are black plastic wheel arch fenders, sportier wheels, a sports bar, side decals, mud flaps, and twin mufflers.

As for the regular Hilux, the TRD division has created a new grille featuring a honeycomb mesh, which can be supplemented by a front bumper cover, red skid plate, side steps, sports bar and TRD decals for a more rugged look.

The catalogue also includes 17-inch wheels, while the bed can be fitted with a hard tonneau cover, or an entire canopy. If that isn’t enough, there’s a complete speaker system from JBL and a range of TRD-branded items like a leather shift knob, door handle protector, oil filler cap, and even a sunshade.

This come in, habis lah Proton. Shocking news is that Toyota YTD sales is 62,000 compared to Proton’s YTD sales of 59,000 in Malaysia for 2018.

This is despite Government ordering more than 20,000 Protons for GOvernment departments and Ministries. (PDRM alone orders 8000 units every year)

Wow, this is a sporty-looking car. I’m sure lots of Malaysians would love to buy one instead of the X70

This is a pickup truck and X70 is an SUV. How to compare? And besides this is a fugly looking car. I’m sure lots of Malaysian would love to buy other pick up instead of this.

I’d really appreciate if UMW introduce JBL sound systems for Hilux and Fortuner. Other cosmetics accessories are not really matters.

  • We can see why UMW only know to give bodykits here and there. They learn from the worst, their own TRD in Japan.
