BMW Malaysia has begun accepting pre-bookings for the all-new G29 BMW Z4, which was previewed during the launch of the G20 3 Series recently. Just like the G15 8 Series before it, interested parties will need to fork out RM5,000 to place a booking, but you can also register your interest for free.
During the preview of the Z4, we were introduced to a left-hand drive example of the range-topping M40i variant, which packs a 3.0 litre turbocharged straight-six engine with 335 hp (340 PS) and 500 Nm of torque.
However, we were told that the M40i won’t be coming our way, and instead, it’s the mid-tier sDrive30i that customers will actually be able to buy. Engine-wise, the sDrive30i comes with a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder delivering 255 hp (258 PS) and 400 Nm.
An eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission is standard across the Z4 line-up, with drive going to the rear wheels only. In terms of performance, the sDrive30i will take 5.4 seconds to complete the zero to 100 km/h sprint, before maxing out at 250 km/h.
Final pricing of the Z4 sDrive30i hasn’t been revealed, but it is estimated to retail at RM460,000, according to our previous report. Interested? Well, head on over here then.

Reminded of Proton Putra coupe.
This is the problem with Proton fanboys, they keep on thinking their Proton is the same level as BMW. This is why ex-Ministers also used to go around saying Proton was better than BMW and Proton was the BMW of Asia.
Looks nothing like one. Also, the Proton is just a mitsubishi colt mirage.
no more 6 cylinder in Malaysia market…:’C
The original is here!
Can somebody please explain the difference between “pre-booking” and “booking”?
Pre-booking is booking before the car is launched.
But isn’t that the definition of booking?
Since after a car is launched, technically there’s no booking anymore. Either you buy or you don’t. Delivery takes a while, sure, but it’s not booking anymore, right?
Same with “pre-order”… oh well…
Pre-booking – book when no actual stock before the product local official launch
Booking – book when not enough stock to meet demand after the product local official launch
Post-booking – book when there is too many stock after the product launch
Pre-Post booking – a combination of the above.
