May 2019 week two fuel price – RON 97 one sen down

It’s Friday, so it’s the time for the weekly fuel price update. After a series of hikes for RON 97 petrol, there’s a small reprieve this week.

As of tomorrow, May 4, RON 97 will be priced at RM2.80 per litre (down by one sen from RM2.81 last week). No change in the price of RON 95 petrol, which continues to be pegged at RM2.08 per litre, the maximum price consumers pay no matter how high market prices push pump prices beyond that.

Likewise, the pegged Euro 2M diesel continues to be priced at RM2.18 per litre, while Euro 5 diesel – which is always 10 sen more – continues to retail at RM2.28 per litre. The government says that based on Automatic Price Mechanism (APM) calculations, RON 95 petrol would be priced at RM2.51 per litre, while diesel would be priced at RM2.48 per litre without the price cap in place.

These prices will remain in effect until May 10, when the next set of fuel pricing adjustments will be announced. This is the 18th edition of the weekly fuel pricing format, which is announced every Friday, and takes effect from Saturday until the following Friday.

Petrol prices in Malaysia are reasonable. But what is more important is, we must be given Euro 5 petrol as soon as possible for us to breathe healthy air.

Currently our Ron 95 is Euro 2M. Euro 2M is even lower than Euro 2. Infact, it can be considered as Euro 1.5

To make matters worse, Euro 2 proper was banned in the whole of Europe in 1994 as it was proven to be toxic, poisonous and cancer causing. That is 25 years ago

We have been breathing this poison petrol the past 25 years. Oh btw, Singapore has had clean Euro 4 onwards since 12 years now. Now they are planning to jump from Euro 5 to Euro 6

Singapore already got Euro 6 fuel since 2018. Now, every car sold in Singapore must have a euro 6 compliant engine.

Meanwhile here, people only want cheap fuel. They don’t know that the cheap fuel is so hazardous

      Always want handouts and bantuan.

There is a rumour that the fixed RM2.08 Ron 95 will come to a stop. I welcome this. This is because all over the world, all countries follow global pricing of oil.

Their rakyat and consumers have got used to it. In Malaysia we are used to subsidy and Government help. Rakyat has become reliant on a “false” market pricing mechanism.

It is good we do away with subsidies. It does not help us in the long run. And it burdens the Government with heavy subsidy bills. Look at Singapore, their rakyat is fine with petrol that have no subsidy.

Time we become like other countries. Always begging bantuan makes us more lazy
