2022 Ducati Monster now in Malaysia at RM69,900

After a small hint earlier in the week, the 2022 Ducati Monster is now in Malaysia, priced at RM69,900, excluding road tax, insurance and registration. For Malaysia, the Monster will come fully-loaded along with up-and-down quickshifter.

A complete redesign, the new Monster drops the iconic trellis frame, replacing it with an alloy monocouque while the rear sub-frame is now a fibreglass composite affair, saving weight and adding rigidity. The swingarm attaches directly to the rear of the engine casing, the engine itself now a stressed member in the frame.

Motive power comes from a Testastretta 11 V-twin pumps out 111 hp at 9,250 rpm and 93 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, compared to the 109 hp at 9,250 rpm and 86 Nm of torque at 7,750 rpm of the previous generation Monster 821. Power goes through a six-speed gearbox with slipper clutch.

The new Monster is also a lot lighter than previous, now weighing 188 kg wet, some 18 kg less than the previous Monster. A complete suit of electronic riding aids is now standard fitment including wheelie control, launch control and cornering ABS, complemented by three ride modes and eight-level traction control.

Braking uses Brembo M4.32 Monobloc four-piston callipers on 320 mm discs while a single 245 mm disc and Brembo calliper stops the rear wheel. The front end of the Monster is held up with a non-adjustable 43 mm diameter upside-fork with 130 mm travel while the rear has a preload-adjustable monoshock.

Also new for the 2022 Monster is a TFT-LCD display measuring 4.3-inches across, displaying all the necessary information and mimicking the style of the menus used in the Panigale V4. Installing the option Ducati Multimedia System module gives Bluetooth connectivity to the rider’s smartphone.

Full LED lighting issued throughout on the Monster, including directional LED turn signals inset into the front body cowl below the 14-litre fuel tank. There are three colour options available for the 2022 Monster in Malaysia – Ducati Red and Dark Stealth with black wheels or Aviator Grey with GP Red wheels.
