Only a few days more to go before the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) takes place, and if you’re shopping for a new ride, you surely dont want to miss the two-day event at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC) this March 19-20, as it promises plenty of great deals on new and pre-owned cars, special perks for purchasers as well as great prizes.
You can look forward to a host of vehicle displays from participating brands, which are Mercedes-Benz (represented by Hap Seng Star), BMW and MINI (represented by Auto Bavaria), Volkswagen, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, Ford and Hyundai. Among the fresh metal present at the Hap Seng Star showcase will be the first Mercedes-EQ offering to debut here, the EQA 250 AMG Line. The all-electric SUV was just launched here last week, so PACE will no doubt be where many will get the chance to find out what the EV is all about for the first time.
If you like the idea of going green, you’ll be happy to hear that the fully-imported EQA is a very competitive alternative to the conventional GLA, which it is based on. That’s because at RM278,201, it’s just RM7k more than the locally-assembled GLA 250 AMG Line, thanks to the tax breaks introduced by the government for EVs.
The EQA 250 features a single asynchronous electric motor offering 188 hp (190 PS or 140 kW) and 375 Nm of torque, delivering this to the front wheels via a single-speed gearbox. Performance figures include a 0-100 km/h time of 8.9 seconds and a 160 km/h top speed. A 66.5 kWh lithium-ion battery provides a travel range of up to 429 km on a full charge, and charging via an 11 kW AC charger gets the unit juiced up in under six hours, while DC charging at the maximum rate of 100 kW brings the battery from 10% to an 80% state of charge in around 32 minutes.
