<em>paultan.org</em> PACE 2022 – 486 premium vehicles worth RM114 million booked in two days, including 28 EVs!

Despite missing two editions due to Covid-19, the paultan.org PACE 2022 show more than resumed where it had left off. Held over the March 19-20 weekend at the Setia City Convention Centre, the expo showed why it remains the premier event when it comes to premium car sales exhibitions in the country.

The statistics speak for themselves. At PACE 2022, a total of 486 bookings worth RM114 million were recorded, well surpassing the PACE 2019 tally (399 vehicles worth RM91 million), and more than double that of the PACE 2018 total (214 cars worth RM50 million). The nearly 22% jump in sales from the 2019 event is an immense feat, given the premium element of the vehicles and the general state of the economy, which remains impacted by the effects of the pandemic.

Of the 486 vehicles sold at PACE 2022, 384 were new cars and 38 were pre-owned vehicles. Premium motorcycles also had a great showing, with 64 new bikes sold at the event. Bike models that shifted in volume included the Harley-Davidson Tri-Glide Ultra, which costs more than RM300k, as well as the top-of-the-line CVO Road Glide and a Vespa 964 Christian Dior Edition.

Cars naturally remained the primary focus, and in terms of brands, BMW had the highest bookings at 113 vehicles. Combined with MINI and Motorrad, Auto Bavaria sold 163 units at the event. Mercedes-Benz was the second most popular brand in numbers with 89 bookings, while Ford was third with 58 units.

In terms of model specifics, notable performers included the new Land Rover Defender, the Mercedes-Benz S 580 e and BMW 7 Series, the Volkswagen Golf R and an astounding number of Ford Ranger Raptor pick-ups, with 20 of these being sold that weekend!

Electric vehicles also managed a strong showing at PACE 2022, with no less than 28 EVs shifted at the event, working out to slightly over 7% of new cars booked, or just two shy of all EVs sold in Malaysia in February 2022!

The Hyundai Ioniq 5, in the running for the 2022 World Car of the Year title, was the most popular EV, with 13 bookings recorded. Second was the MINI Cooper SE, with 10 units. The bookings list also includes the Hyundai Kona Electric, Mercedes-Benz EQA 250, the BMW iX3 and even the BMW iX, even though the latter wasn’t on display at the show. The EV order numbers would have been higher, had Volvo accepted bookings for the XC40 Pure Electric P8 it displayed at the event.

More numbers. Participating brands processed nearly 950 test drives over the two days. Mercedes was by far the busiest, with 338 test drives processed, more than double that of any other brand. The bulk of it was of the W206 C-Class, which had 116 test drives. The second most popular vehicle to be test driven was the Ioniq 5 EV, which was test driven 68 times.

Compared against the number of vehicles booked (over 50% in relation to total test drives), it’s clear we have a quality crowd, with serious intent of purchasing rather than merely being tyre kickers or joyriders.

As it was before, the fact that sales at PACE 2022 saw a significant leap despite challenging market conditions is proof that targeting the right crowd is the all-important factor for a sales-focused show. With all marketing and promotion for PACE 2022 being done exclusively on paultan.org, the results are a testament of the site’s reach where it counts, and amply reiterates its unrivalled and unique position as the top daily provider of motoring content to Malaysians.

Of course, PACE 2022 would not have been a success without the support of partners RHB Bank, BMW, MINI, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volkswagen, Volvo, BMW Motorrad, Harley-Davidson, Blueair, Kuzig Glanz, MyTukar, Ogawa, Recaro Kids and V-Kool, as well as you, dear readers.

The Premium Auto Car Expo will return for another edition next year, but before that, buyers can look forward to the second running of the paultan.org ACE (Auto Car Expo) for mass market brands later this year. Stay tuned for more exciting news on this!

  • PACE 2022: Volkswagen showcases updated lineup – Tiguan Allspace facelift, Mk8 Golf, Arteon and Passat

PACE 2022: Volkswagen showcases updated lineup – Tiguan Allspace facelift, Mk8 Golf, Arteon and Passat

The paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) enters its second day at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC), and you still have a few hours to head on over and check it out. One of the big brands on show is Volkswagen, which showcased a full lineup of updated vehicles.

The newest of these is, of course, the facelifted Tiguan Allspace, which was launched at PACE 2022 itself. The revised seven-seater SUV featured a new front fascia inspired by the Mk8 Golf, plus touch-sensitive controls on the inside and an upgraded kit list.

Starting at RM175,346, the entry-level Elegance is powered by an efficient 150 PS/250 Nm 1.4 litre TSI turbocharged engine, and when mated to a six-speed DSG wet dual-clutch transmission and front-wheel drive, is capable of achieving a fuel consumption figure of 7.3 litres per 100 km.

The RM220,527 R-Line 4Motion model not only ups the visual aggressiveness but also the performance, with the larger 2.0 litre mill punching out 220 PS and 350 Nm of torque. All this is sent through all four wheels via a seven-speed DSG, enabling the car to get from zero to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds.

Also present is the recently-launched Mk8 Golf, CKD locally assembled for the first time in both hot GTI form and as the soon-to-go-on-sale R-Line. Both models get sporty looks, comfy sports seats and a tech-laden interior with lots of capacitive touch controls. The 1.4 litre engine in the R-Line is the same as in the Allspace, but it’s mated to an Aisin-sourced eight-speed automatic gearbox instead.

Retailing at RM212,711, the GTI packs an even more powerful version of the 2.0 litre power plant, pushing out 245 PS and 370 Nm of torque to the front wheels only via the same seven-speed DSG. It sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h, so it’s plenty fast.

But it’s not quite as powerful as the Arteon R-Line 4Motion, the all-paw traction of which allows 280 PS and 370 Nm to be channeled to them – getting it from zero to 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds. The facelift introduced last year gives it a revised front fascia with a full-width light bar, new taillights and the touch controls that have infiltrated the rest of the local VW lineup. Priced at RM258,019, the Arteon competes squarely against the compact executive models also present at PACE, offering more power and a svelte five-door coupé design.

Lastly, the updated Passat is also here, showing the same new Volkswagen logo and touch controls as the other cars here. Both the RM183,680 Elegance (which also gets snazzy new “Bonneville” wheels) and RM212,939 R-Line are powered by a 2.0 litre TSI engine with outputs of 190 PS and 320 Nm and 220 PS and 350 Nm respectively, sent to the front wheels through a seven-speed DSG.

Volkswagen is just one of several premium brands exhibiting at PACE, including BMW and MINI (represented by Auto Bavaria), Mercedes-Benz (represented by Hap Seng Star), Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, Ford and Hyundai. Looking for something on two wheels? Not to worry, as we’ve got you covered with BMW Motorrad and Harley-Davidson, which will also be at the event.

All of them will have their own deals in store, and PACE is also one of the last chances for you to take advantage of the SST rebate (100% for these CKD Volkswagens), which ends on June 30. You will also be getting your car in time for the Raya holidays.

Need to finance your car? You can turn to our co-sponsor RHB Bank, which is offering rates as low as 1.99%* per annum (flat rate equivalent) on a hybrid, plug-in hybrid or electric vehicle through RHB Green Financing. For a regular car, you’ll be able to take advantage of RHB Vehicle Financing-i (Variable Rate) with rates as low as 2.10%* per annum (flat rate equivalent).

To sweeten the deal, RHB Bank provides principal reduction and daily rest balance reduction to save on profit charges; it also won’t penalise you with exit fees if you settle your loan early. What’s more, if you finance a minimum of RM50,000 of your car’s cost through RHB Bank at PACE 2022, you’ll receive complimentary RM100,000 of personal accident coverage from Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Berhad.

And if you’re looking to trade in your existing car beforehand, you’ll receive a higher valuation through myTukar, which will also be present at the event. The online used car marketplace will handle everything including paperwork and dealings with the Road Transport Department (JPJ), and once your car has passed inspection, you will be paid instantly.

On top of all these offers, all new car bookings will come with RM2,500 worth of vouchers from our partners, including a RM500 voucher for auto coating and paint protection films from Kuzig Glanz, a RM500 voucher for auto window films and auto coatings from V-Kool, a RM500 voucher for air purification solutions from Blueair, a RM500 voucher for child car seats from Recaro Kids and a RM500 voucher for lifestyle products from Ogawa.

It’s the second and final day for the 2022 running of the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) at the Setia City Convention Centre, which is happening right now and concludes at 7pm today. Taking part in the expo is Jaguar Land Rover, and the British brands are showcasing their current models, plus one up-and-coming.

Jaguar is showcasing its XE and XF sedans at PACE this weekend, and both are powered by the 2.0 litre Ingenium turbocharged inline-four-cylinder petrol engine offering 300 PS and 400 Nm of torque. These outputs are sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the XF brings the added reassurance of all-wheel-drive.

For the XE, this powertrain combination offers performance to the tune of 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. Paired to these credentials is the R-Dynamic trim that gives the XE an even sportier appearance with a front bumper that now wears more prominently sculpted inlets, while its rear end gets dark mesh on its rear valance. Owners will get to pair this kit with a selection of wheel designs.

PACE 2022: Check out the Jaguar Land Rover booth – XE, XF and Evoque; plus a peek at the Defender 90

Starting from RM395,831, the Jaguar XE packs technology including a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, while infotainment offers wireless mobile device connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Here, you’ll get wireless charging too, and Smart Settings enable personalisation of individual drivers’ preferences such as for seat and mirror positioning, audio as well as climate control settings.

Step up to the Jaguar XF, and here you’ll get a host of active safety features including lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, driver condition monitor as well as the 3D surround camera. A rear collision monitor and adaptive cruise control come as part of the Driver Assist pack in the XF, as do blind spot assist and the rear traffic monitor as well as the clear exit monitor.

Representing the Land Rover brand is the L663-generation Land Rover Defender starting from RM798,800, which is present in the 110 bodystyle that was launched last October. Here, the Malaysian market receives the all-aluminium monocoque off-roader with a choice of two petrol engines – the 300 PS/400 Nm P300 2.0 litre Ingenium petrol engine, and the mild-hybrid P400 3.0 litre Ingenium inline-six petrol engine.

PACE 2022: Check out the Jaguar Land Rover booth – XE, XF and Evoque; plus a peek at the Defender 90

There’s lots on offer in the Defender here, though for starters, the HSE specification offered brings Matrix LED headlights with signature DRLs, LED tail lights, Alpine roof lights and a sliding panoramic roof, while rolling stock is a set of 20-inch Style 5098 five-spoke wheels.

Infotainment in the L663 Defender comes courtesy of 10-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen and a 400 watt, 10-speaker Meridian sound system, and also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The exterior camera system offers assistance not just when parking, but also when tackling off-road terrain; ClearSight Ground View shows a video feed that enables the driver to virtually ‘look through’ the Defender’s bodywork, and at the terrain below.

Keen on the Defender’s combination of technology and utility, but also thinking you might prefer two fewer doors? Have a peek at the Defender 90. The pair of Defenders, including the concealed one, aren’t the only SUVs at the Land Rover stand, as there’s the Evoque present, too, with this particular display vehicle priced at RM490,851.

All new vehicle bookings will come with RM2,500 worth of vouchers from our partners, and these include a RM500 voucher for auto coating and paint protection films from Kuzig Glanz, a RM500 voucher for auto window films and auto coatings from V-Kool, a RM500 voucher for air purification solutions from Blueair, a RM500 voucher for child car seats from Recaro Kids and a RM500 voucher for lifestyle products from Ogawa.

On top of the great offers you’ll enjoy when you buy a Mercedes-Benz vehicle at the event, you can look forward to plenty of value-added items. For instance, purchasing an E 200 or A 200 – and securing a financing contract from Mercedes-Benz Financial – at PACE will net you a complimentary Touch ‘n Go card worth RM500. Happening here at the Setia City Convention Centre is the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE), and today is the final day of the expo which is running this weekend from March 19 to 20, 2022. One of the brands present at the expo is Ford, which has brought a selection of 4X4 models to this year’s edition.

The Ranger pick-up truck is a perennial best-seller for the Blue Oval, and the sustained interest brings yet another version of the T6-generation dual-cab load-lugger, the Ranger XLT Plus Special Edition, priced at RM136,888.

As its designation would suggest, this is based on the XLT Plus trim variant that pack the manufacturer’s 2.0 litre EcoBlue four-cylinder turbodiesel engine producing 180 PS and 420 Nm of torque, which is paired with the 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission.

Added to the XLT Plus kit, and unique to the Special Edition variant is a Raptor-style front grille featuring Ford script in block lettering. Differentiating itself from the full-sized Raptor item is the “Ranger” script along the top, which is similarly blacked out and devoid of chrome.

Mirroring the XLT Plus kit list, the Special Edition also includes LED headlights, side steps, an Easy Lift tailgate, keyless entry, push-button start, cruise control, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, twin four-inch multi-info displays, a SYNC 3 infotainment system with an eight-inch touchscreen supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker sound system and a reverse camera.

Joining the XLT Plus Special Edition is another Ranger, the Wildtrak, which starts from RM152,388. This ups the ante on several fronts, firstly with a powerplant of the same displacement, but with 213 PS and 500 Nm of torque on tap in its Bi-Turbo setup. Transmission, similarly is via the 10R80 10-speed automatic, with SelectShift override.

Interior appointments include leather seats, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, a SYNC 3 infotainment system with and eight-inch touchscreen and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Audio comes courtesy of a six-speaker set, and also offers active noise cancellation.

Rounding up the trio of models on display at the Ford booth here at PACE is the Everest from RM268,888, a ladder-framed SUV that brings three-row seating to proceedings. As with the Ranger dual-cab pick-up trucks on display at the booth, the Everest is powered by a 2.0 litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine with up to 213 PS and 500 Nm, paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Here, the seven-seater gets a very mild visual revision courtesy of a new grille.

PACE 2022: Check out the Volvo XC40 Pure Electric, XC90 B5, V60 Recharge T8; enjoy amazing deals

Today is the final day of the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) 2022 at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC), so swing by for the best deals on new and pre-owned vehicles.

Volvo is just one several brands present at the show, and visitors at the Swedish brand’s booth will be able to get up close with three models that were launched in Malaysia this year, namely the XC40 Pure Electric, XC90 B5 AWD Inscription Plus and V60 Recharge T8 Inscription.

The former is the newest to be introduced and is the first Volvo EV that will go on sale here. With 418 km of range from a 78-kWh lithium-ion battery, the all-electric crossover also features dual electric motors that provide a total system output of 408 PS (402 hp or 300 kW) and 660 Nm of torque.

With those figures, it takes just 4.9 seconds to get from 0-100 km/h and the top speed is 180 km/h. In terms of equipment, there’s an Android Automotive OS-based infotainment system that offers a user experience akin to a smartphone, and you’ll also have a bevy of safety and driver assistance systems expected of a Volvo.

Equally as well-equipped is the XC90 B5, which sports a mild hybrid powertrain capable of 249 PS (245 hp) and 350 Nm. The setup involves a Drive-E 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and eight-speed automatic transmission, with an electric motor sandwiched between both to recuperate kinetic energy as well provide short bursts of power to support the engine.

If you prefer a more unique body style, the stylish V60 wagon is also on display at PACE. Available in Recharge T8 Inscription guise, the extended roofline nets you a larger boot that starts at 529 litres and can be increased to 1,441 litres with the rear seats folded down.

The result is all-wheel drive and a total system output of 407 PS at 5,700 rpm and 640 Nm of torque from 1,200 to 5,400 rpm. An Aisin eight-speed automatic gearbox comes as standard.

  • PACE 2022: Hyundai displays Ioniq 5 and Kona Electric EVs alongside the Palisade three-row SUV

PACE 2022: Hyundai displays Ioniq 5 and Kona Electric EVs alongside the Palisade three-row SUV

Hyundai’s booth at PACE 2022 isn’t the largest, but there’s no lack of footfall, thanks to interesting display cars that you don’t see very often on the road. That’s because two of those three cars are recently-launched electric vehicles and the other is a big luxury SUV.

EVs are trending, and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the EV of the moment. This retro-modern design looks like nothing else on the market, electric or not, and the looks are matched by top specs and kit. Riding on an EV-specific platform, the Ioniq 5 looks like a Golf-sized hatchback, but is actually larger – in fact, the three-metre wheelbase is longer than that of the big Palisade SUV beside it.

The Ioniq 5 range starts from the RM199,888 Lite, which comes with a 58 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery and single-motor rear-wheel drive (170 PS/350 Nm), while the RM229,888 Plus is a higher-spec version of the 58 kWh RWD car.

The RM259,888 range-topping Max on display at PACE has a 72.6 kWh battery and an extra front motor to make it AWD. Combined, the motors make 305 PS/605 Nm, good for 0-100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. The range is 430 km per charge and there are business class-style reclining front seats – check out our walk-around video too see the seats (and more) in action, as well as our full launch report.

The Ioniq 5 is Hyundai’s second EV in Malaysia. The first was the Kona Electric. Launched late last year, the Kona Electric is the BEV version of Hyundai’s B-segment ICE-powered Kona crossover. Three variants are available here – the RM149,888 Lite (39.2 kWh), the RM169,888 Plus (higher-spec 39.2 kWh) and the RM199,888 Max with the 64 kWh battery. With these two models in various battery sizes, the Korean marque has full EVs covering a wide RM150k to RM260k space.

The polar opposite of an EV is a big-engined SUV, and the Palisade is such a car. The Santa Fe is already larger than most mid-size SUVs, and the Palisade sits a rung above it. Launched in December 2021, the Palisade can be had with a 2.2L turbodiesel with 200 PS/440 Nm or a 3.8L naturally-aspirated V6 petrol with 295 PS/355 Nm. Both come with an eight-speed auto, but only the CRDi has AWD.

The diesel has eight seats and is priced from RM328,888, or RM348,888 with seven seats. The 3.8L V6 is priced from RM338,888 (eight seats) to RM358,888 (seven seats). Full details and galleries in our launch report.

Great deals from the brands aside, purchasing at PACE will net you bonus goodies and savings. All new car bookings will come with RM2,500 worth of vouchers from our partners (RM1,000 for pre-owned cars) and buyers will be in the running to win smartphones and a grand prize of a holiday package worth RM25,000. Full details here.

  • PACE 2022: Land Rover Defender 90 at the Setia City Convention Centre; Malaysian launch later this year

PACE 2022: Land Rover Defender 90 at the Setia City Convention Centre; Malaysian launch later this year

Come one, come all to the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) at the Setia City Convention Centre, happening both days of this weekend from 9am to 7pm. Those of you already here may well have seen a large box situated in the middle of the Land Rover booth; it’s this, the three-door Defender 90 that is being concealed within.

First alluded to last year ahead of the five-door version’s launch for the Malaysian market, the relatively more compact bodystyle of the L663-generation Land Rover Defender has been slated to arrive with the same pair of engines as specified for the five-door Defender 110.

These will be the P300 2.0 litre Ingenium four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine rated for 300 PS at 5,500 rpm and 400 Nm of torque from 1,500 rpm to 4,000 rpm, as well as a P400 3.0 litre Ingenium inline-six turbo mild-hybrid petrol with 400 PS at 5,500 rpm and 550 Nm of torque from 2,000 rpm to 5,000 rpm.

Globally, variants available for the Defender 90 include the base, S, SE, HSE and X, as well as a limited First Edition; the X and First Edition variants will be available solely with the 3.0 litre mild-hybrid powertrain. The Defender 110 that was launched in Malaysia last October was made available in the HSE trim for both 2.0L and 3.0L powertrain options.

PACE 2022: Land Rover Defender 90 at the Setia City Convention Centre; Malaysian launch later this year

Based on the example we have managed to photograph through the peep holes of the box, the Defender 90 here is specified closest to the X variant, where its 20-inch Style 5098 five-spoke alloy wheels are of a Dark Satin Grey finish. Also seen here is a black contrast finish for the roof, as well as a full-sized spare wheel.

In X trim, features in the Defender 90 includes electronically controlled air suspension with Adaptive Dynamics, an electronic active differential and Terrain Response 2.

Interior kit for the X trim is comprised of Windsor leather with steelcut premium textile for the 14-way adjustable, heated and cooled memory seats with four-way manual headrests. Infotainment in this spec includes a 700-watt, 14-speaker (plus subwoofer) Meridian surround sound system.

That said, the confirmed specifications for the Defender 90 will be known for sure when it makes its official Malaysian-market debut later this year. In the meantime, come along to the Setia City Convention Centre this weekend, between 9am and 7pm to check out the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo; cars, bikes and plenty more await!

  • PACE 2022: Electric vehicles galore – 6 models on show from Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, MINI, Volvo

PACE 2022: Electric vehicles galore – 6 models on show from Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, MINI, Volvo

Today marks the first day of this year’s paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE), held until tomorrow at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC). There’s plenty to draw your eye at the show, not least the cars – and with the government’s import tax, excise duty and road tax exemptions for electric cars in full swing, there are several new models on display at the show.

In fact, almost all of the models officially on sale in Malaysia are here, with no less than six models from five exhibiting brands. Two of these come from Hyundai – the Kona Electric and the Ioniq 5, displayed in e-Lite and Max form respectively.

The e-Lite is the cheapest variant of the electric B-segment crossover and the one with the headline-grabbing RM149,888 starting price. Even so, it’s well equipped, coming with LED headlights, automatic climate control, leather seats and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Power comes from a 136 PS/395 Nm front-mounted motor, with a 39.2 kWh battery providing a range of 305 km on a single charge.

By contrast, the Max is the top-of-the-line Ioniq 5, priced at RM259,888. For that you get the largest 20-inch alloys (matching the car’s futuristic, heavily-creased design), power-adjustable front seats with the cool one-touch reclining feature, a sliding centre console, a rear three-pin power socket and a solar roof panel.

But by far the biggest Max-exclusive feature is the 306 PS and 605 Nm of torque coming from the twin-motor setup, providing all-wheel drive and allowing the Ioniq 5 to get from zero to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds. A 72.6 kWh battery provides a range of 430 km.

Another recently-launched EV is the Mercedes-Benz EQA 250 AMG Line, Stuttgart’s first fully-electric model to be sold in Malaysia. Essentially the zero-emission version of the GLA, it is powered by a 190 PS/375 Nm front motor and gets a range of up to 429 km using a 66.5 kWh battery. It’s slightly more expensive than the Ioniq 5, but RM278,201 is still good value for a Three-pointed Star.

On the BMW side is the iX3, shown here in top-spec Impressive trim retailing at RM336,360. This is the one with Laserlight headlamps, 20-inch alloys, head-up display, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a 360-degree camera system and the IconicSounds Electric developed in conjunction with renown composer Hans Zimmer. Mechanicals include a 286 PS/400 Nm rear motor and a 73.8 kWh battery, the latter providing a range of up to 461 km.

At the same booth, the MINI Cooper SE is being shown in the latest facelifted form, priced at RM178,241. This makes it by far the cheapest MINI on sale in Malaysia, even though its spec list is similar to that of the much pricier petrol-powered Cooper S. It’s powered by a 184 PS/270 Nm front motor, and with a 28.9 kWh battery, the SE has a range of 232 km on a single charge.

Last but not least is the newest EV on the scene. Launched earlier this week, the handsome XC40 Recharge P8 AWD – which will go on sale next month – is the first locally-assembled electric car in Malaysia, so expect it to be priced competitively. With 408 PS and 660 Nm of torque, it is also the most powerful car in the entire hall (not just compared to other EVs), while its 78 kWh battery delivers a respectable range of 418 km.

Interested? Then come over to PACE 2022, happening until tomorrow, March 20, at SCCC from 9am to 7pm. Not only will you be able to check out all the new metal but you will also enjoy special deals from each brand, our partners RHB Bank and myTukar and paultan.org. See you here!

PACE 2022: Ford Ranger XLT Plus Special Edition – beefed up with Raptor-style grille, bold overfenders

Hello from PACE 2022, which is happening this weekend at the Setia City Convention Centre. Over at Ford’s corner of the hall is the Ford Ranger XLT Plus Special Edition. This is our first live look at the SE after it was announced late last month by Sime Darby Auto Connexion.

The latest variant of the Ranger T6 is a macho one, adding choice aesthetic goodies to the mid-range XLT Plus variant. The most obvious change is up front, where the SE wears a Raptor-style grille with the Ford script in block letters. It’s not the exact Raptor grille though – it has the Ranger script on top, but the all-black, zero-chrome item is close enough.

The Raptor-style grille has to be the most popular mod among Ranger owners and now you can get the look from the factory. The macho additions don’t end there – the SE also gets black plastic wheel arch extensions and a tube-style sports bar on the bed. Inside, there are illuminated side sill scuff plates and a front dash cam with a 32 GB memory card and smartphone connectivity via an app.

PACE 2022: Ford Ranger XLT Plus Special Edition – beefed up with Raptor-style grille, bold overfenders

The rest of the specs are identical to the XLT Plus. You’ll get LED headlights, side steps, an Easy Lift tailgate, keyless entry, push-button start, cruise control, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, twin four-inch multi-info displays, a SYNC 3 infotainment system with an 8.0-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, six speakers and a reverse camera.

Under the hood is the latest 2.0 litre EcoBlue turbodiesel engine produces 180 PS and 420 Nm of torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox, four-wheel drive and a limited-slip rear differential. The Ford Ranger XLT Plus Special Edition is priced at RM136,888.

PACE 2022 – book online this weekend and enjoy the same deals along with RM2,500 worth of vouchers

This weekend marks the start of the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) 2022, which takes place at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC) from March 19-20. At PACE, you’ll find the best deals from participating brands on new and pre-owned premium cars.

On top of that, all new car bookings made at PACE will come with RM2,500 worth of vouchers and buyers will also be in the running to win some amazing prizes. With the ongoing sales tax exemption – 50% for CBU imports and 100% for CKD locally-assembled cars – set to end on June 30, there’s certainly no better time to enjoy some savings as well.

However, what if you’re unable to be physically present at PACE this year? It could be for any number of reasons, be it family or work commitments, plans with friends, self-quarantine measures or you just prefer being in the comfort of your home. Don’t worry because you’ll still be able to purchase at PACE via PACEMalaysia.my.

That’s right, PACE is online too, providing you with an opportunity to book a car even if you’re not able to be at SCCC this weekend. The best part is that all the deals available at SCCC are offered online as well, along with the mentioned RM2,500 worth of vouchers, which we’re giving to the first 200 people book a car.

These include a RM500 voucher for auto coating and paint protection film (Kuzig Glanz), a RM500 voucher for auto window film and auto coating (V-Kool), a RM500 voucher for air purification solutions (Blueair), a RM500 voucher for child car seats (Recaro Kids) and a RM500 voucher for lifestyle products from Ogawa.

Participating brands will also have in store a fleet of quality pre-owned cars, and buyers will receive RM1,000 worth of vouchers from PACE, consisting of two random RM500 vouchers from either Kuzig Glanz, V-Kool, Blueair or Recaro Kids.

PACE 2022 buyers, including those who book online, will also be in the running to win prizes including 10 units of smartphones worth RM3,500 each, and there’s even a grand prize of a holiday package worth RM25,000 for one lucky customer and his/her partner. Find out more here.

So, how do you go about booking a car online? Simply direct your browser to PACEMalaysia.my, choose the car brand that you’re interested in, and you’ll be able to chat via WhatsApp with a sales advisor who is physically at the event. You can pose all your questions to the SA and request further information about the models and deals on offer. The phone numbers of the SAs will be available on the PACE website from 9am tomorrow.

Once you’ve found the car that suits you best, how do you go about with payment? Well, we’re not collecting payments, as PACE’s online portal is only meant to connect you with sales personnel at the show via WhatsApp.

Instead, you will need to receive instructions from the SA and make your bookings and payment directly to the car companies. Once that’s done, your SA, who is at SCCC, will head over to the paultan.org booth to register the sale and collect the vouchers on your behalf (if you’re among the first 200 new car buyers). Your name will also be entered into the lucky draw at the same time.

Participating brands at PACE this year include BMW and MINI (represented by Auto Bavaria, Mercedes-Benz (represented by Hap Seng Star), Ford Volkswagen, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover and Hyundai.
