UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has started taking orders for the new Toyota Corolla Cross facelift, which is estimated to be priced from RM140,000. On its official website, the company is teasing two variants, namely the Corolla Cross Hybrid Electric as well as the Corolla Cross HEV GR Sport. The latter would be new to our market, as the outgoing GR Sport variant wasn’t a hybrid.
Already on sale in Thailand, the refreshed Corolla Cross sports a new front end that features redesigned full-LED headlamps and a slimmer upper grille. The main grille just below also gets honeycomb perforations and blends in neatly into prominent faux intakes at the sides.
No shots of the interior for now, but it is confirmed that the antiquated foot-operated parking brake will be replaced with an electronic parking brake, which brings along with it an auto brake hold function. A larger 10.1-inch touchscreen head unit (previously a nine-inch system) is also touted and comes with support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Other features highlighted by UMWT include a 3D panoramic view monitor (PVM) as well as an updated vehicle telematics system with remote engine start. The Corolla Cross Hybrid Electric will be available in five colours, including Celestite Grey Metallic, Red Mica Metallic, Silver Metallic, Platinum White Pearl and a new Dark Turquoise.
As for the GR Sport version, it gets three two-tone options – Platinum White Pearl, Red Mica Metallic and Dark Turquoise – all with a black roof. The new features of the non-GR Sport model are here too, but the sportier offering gets stiffer suspension and performance bracing for sharper cornering, complemented by a GR Sport interior that has black leather seats with embossed logos and red stitching.
Both variants come with an eight-year, unlimited-mileage warranty for the hybrid battery, inverter and power management control ECU, and customers will have the option to extend the coverage by an additional two years. This is on top of the standard five-year, unlimited-mileage manufacturer warranty.
The company stopped short of mentioning if there are any powertrain changes, but based on what we’ve seen in Thailand, the Corolla Cross Hybrid is expected to maintain its 1.8 litre naturally-aspirated Dual VVT-i inline-four petrol and electric motor pairing for a total system output of 122 PS going to the front wheels.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
good car
Hope the price can be competitive enough to fight with China car brands.. otherwise will be out of the pictures
Nothing special
Still 1.8L dinosaur engine…alamak. People want powerful car
I can see Toyota putting down the price a bit… thanks to Chinese brands competition
That starting price is crazy and stupid just like UMW is
@Peppa anneh says this car is expensive. Work harder la. Expensive or cheap depends on how much you earn. If you earn little then this is expensive la. That is why I tell everyone, people who tends to support Israel and hates China have 1 thing in common- poor with low IQ. Now seeing your comment proves my point. Pigi kija betul betul la anneh. Itu main handphone kasi kulang sikit.
Hating on china or whatever you are implying has nothing to do with my op. The Corolla Cross in Japan and Western countries literally spec much higher than the one we get. Full size panoramic roof, all LED interior lighting, brand new engine options, larger 10.25inch Toyota in-house infotainment system. This upcoming facelift won’t get any of these features.
Overpriced!
Agree. should be cheaper
front = looks good, with that 2024 audi q5 front led lamp. honda hrv need to copy this.
back = still looks dull, may modified or retrofit with eagle eyes asia auto lamp, lexus style
price = almost same with the low spec new honda crv, if including honda rebate, hard to choose.
interior = at last give EPB, center console make you feel in the harrier.
This has been out in Europe for almost 3 years and in some other countries for quite some times and only now UMW introducing it to the Malaysian market. Just change some headlights and call it a new model and milk Malaysian customers for another 3 4 years on the same outdated interior design and tech. Malaysians deserve better
it’s about damn time
No 2.0 dynamic force engine?
Toyota….cheapskate!!
No turbo, no buy. All car brands have already upgraded to upstage level except toyota.
Even with hybrid, but seeing horsepower and torque also no use
So many other options today… and this car’s highlight is 3D panoramic view monitor and remote start? Don’t the majority of the competition have that already?
all those online chinese car haters should own one of this mean machine since no other cars are worthy enough for them
Jaecoo j7 for smart, Corolla for the not so smart and old people
Hybrid cars should be more powerful n more fuel economical but this car terbalik. Less powerful but more expensive. Although price not reveal yet but as usual hybrid cars should cost more than normal model.
Have they done anything about those awful rear seats? Sitting in the back of this car feels like sitting at the rear seats of a Bezza.. upright, flat, and poorly-bolstered.
Meanwhile, no 2.0-liter Dynamic Force engine for the hybrid? No rear e-Axle? In other words this is a cut-down Corolla Cross Hybrid for the ASEAN market.
hardsell against the Mazda CX5. Toyota with its cheapo interior and dated dashboard. If uncle can la
the front not so ugly with the facelifted, rear still ugly
Hybrid like this wouldn’t save much money after petrol price increase, its better to get an EV instead.
China car is world best because there is legend say long time ago before they invent car only nobody know. Also they first to invent aeroplane. First in world to cure all disease include cancer with acupuncture now hospital all bankrupt. Chinese will blessing the world.
GR sport version looks great but if rm150k above is abit expensive.
The only downside is engine sampan. Slow like turtle.
Model lama turun value 25%
No panoramic sunroof for Malaysia’s facelift 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross is a dealbreaker. Need to wait much longer for Toyota UMW Malaysia to give the real facelift like the Thailand got.
