2025 BYD Atto 3 Ultra in Malaysia – from RM118,800, now cheaper than Proton eMas 7, 8-year free service

As announced last month, the BYD Atto 3 has been refreshed for 2025, where the Extended Premium variant is now known as the Atto 3 Ultra. The all-electric SUV gets some minor aesthetic updates, and its pricing has also been revised. The EV is now priced at RM123,800 (nett pricing), and if you factor in the RM5,000 rebate being offered to the first 1,000 customers, the RM118,800 launch price brings it right up into Proton eMas 7 Premium territory.

These customers will also gain the extras that come with the Ultra launch package, led by an eight-year free service package worth RM4,888, which brings the total savings up to RM9,888. Additionally, early-bird buyers will also get a free AC wallbox charger worth RM3,699, a vehicle-to-load (V2L) adapter worth RM988 and a Type 2 charging cable worth RM1,796. As standard, the EV comes with a six-year/150,000 km warranty and an eight-year/150,000 km warranty for the drive unit (160,000 km for the battery),

Updates to the SUV are led by a new 18-inch alloy wheel design, which replaces the previous turbine-style unit, and a small change in the headlight, with the lower trim now in black compared to silver previously. The interior colour scheme has also been altered, moving into an all-black presentation from the black/blue and dark blue/light grey two-tone combination seen previously.

The colour of the piping and contrast stitching has also been altered, with the previous red being replaced by yellow. As a result of this, the “guitar strings” on the door pockets are no longer dressed in red, switching to black in line with the rest of the interior colour scheme. The Atto 3 Ultra also gains ventilated front seats and a NFC digital key, which allows drivers to unlock and start the vehicle with a smartphone or compatible device.

The rest of the standard equipment remains unchanged, with the kit list including adaptive LED headlights, roof rails, keyless entry with an NFC key card, push-button start, single-zone automatic air conditioning, six-way driver’s and four-way passenger side power-adjustable front seats and faux leather upholstery.

Also to be found is a panoramic glass sunroof, heated side-view mirrors, navigation, a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Qi wireless charger and a 360-degree camera system. Elsewhere, the exterior colour palette now consists of three shades, these being Ski White, Harbour Grey and Cosmos Black, with Surf Blue omitted from the list.

Also unchanged is the electric powertrain and its output, with the single front motor continuing to produce 204 PS (150 kW) and 310 Nm of torque, allowing the SUV to get from zero to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. The motor is juiced by a 60.48 kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate battery, offering the Atto 3 Ultra a WLTP-rated range of 420 km.

As for charging, the EV supports 88 kW of DC fast charging, allowing the battery to achieve a 10 to 80% state-of-charge in 40 minutes. Maximum AC charging remains at 7 kW, with a full charge taking nine hours and 42 minutes.

Likewise, safety and driver assistance kit is as seen previously, with seven airbags (including a front centre airbag), ABS, ESC, traction control, EBD, hill descent control, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, brake auto hold, autonomous emergency braking, front collision warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, rear collision warning, blind spot monitoring, door open warning and rear cross traffic alert.

So,the euphoria of Protong’s first EV is short lived.
BYD is number one worldwide in EV sales and EV battery latest tech.Even Elon the Musketeer acknowledged that.

Ah yes. Black colour and all black interior. Fastest way to turn your car into a mobile microwave when parked under the hot Malaysian sun. Get inside and once your bum touches the leather seat surface, hearing a sizzle is the last thing you want!

After 4 years BYD exits the market, so no matter how long the warranty is. Remember chevrolet and KIA.

This car brand just simply drop price, people will wait and see if it will drop further. The second hand value of it will also go south real quick.

Why not BYD just down the price to RM9k, same price as Y15? surely it will be the cheapest EV in the world and save the hassle on repricing it over and over again.

Even when the prices were higher, this car sold like hot cakes. Now it’s an even better value. For the first time in a long time, Malaysia is experiencing the price war that is commonplace in China, and I’m here for it as it benefits the consumer at the end of the day.
