E-hailing and delivery drivers and gig workers in Malaysia will get RM200 million in Perkeso (Social Security Organisation, SOCSO) contributions. This was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his 2026 Malaysian Budget speech.
Additionally, platform operators must co-contribute 10% in wages an is part of the government’s social protection initiative. This will be forwarded for insurance payouts and retirement savings for those earning a living from the gig economy.

this is good news for those b40 rempits, sorry i mean those industrious hardworking delivery riders. but it is bad news for the rest of us whose taxpayer money being used to fund this scheme , also ehailing and grab fees will rise.
What if they beat traffic light and kena langgar? Still covered?
Are we subsidising the billionaires in grab? They squeeze suppliers and riders and drivers and we pay to support their livelihood.
becasue we dont have any proper competitor to grab. and if there was any competitor this perkeso scheme would apply equally to that other company as well
the perkeso 200m isnt given to grab billionaire owners, its directed to the very riders that you care so much about
