A waste management company will be summoned to face the Road Transport Department (JPJ) after 22 of its garbage trucks were seized. Speaking at a press conference in Banting, Selangor, JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said, “the meeting aims to remind KDEBWM that their vehicles are not allowed to operate on the road without complying with traffic laws and safety regulations.”
The company is question is KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM), as reported by daily The Star. The matter was brought forward to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, who has recently been focusing enforcement action on overloaded heavy vehicles.
“We seized 22 garbage trucks belonging to the company, which committed 154 offences, including operating without insurance and motor vehicle licences, as well as being driven by foreign nationals without valid driving licences.” said Fadly. He also urged KDEBWM to address and rectify violations on its garbage trucks, especially those operating on public roads.
Fadly also commended KDEBWM for settling 22,017 outstanding summonses amounting to RM3.1 million in compound payments. “We appreciate KDEBWM’s initiative, but repeated offences are still being committed by some contractors under the company,” he said.
Meanwhile, JPJ Senior Enforcement Director Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan has been directed to deploy enforcement teams from Selangor and Kuala Lumpur to detain and seize any KDEWM garbage trucks found flouting the law. KDEBWM recently came into the spotlight when the driver one of its garbage trucks lost control approaching a toll plaza on the LDP, crashing into a concrete barrier.
According to reports, Subang Jaya Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the garbage truck driver, an Indonesian national, fled the scene after crashing into the toll plaza, while the truck attendant, a 42-year-old Bangladeshi man, suffered head and facial injuries.

“KDEBWM recently came into the spotlight when the driver one of its garbage trucks lost”
so obviously its KDEB top managemnt who should be responsible and resign.
This is State Selangor’s company…..called up the MB …its Chairman & CEO! What a shame!
YAB Amir..Your Excellency, pls step in personally,if your esteemed macai are incapable of managing a rubbish collection company.
Just incomprehensible for a state owned subsidiary to flout JPJ regulations in broad daylight.
The bad management of this LAPSAP company is really due to lapsap managers.
” the garbage truck driver, an Indonesian national, fled the scene after crashing into the toll plaza, while the truck attendant, a 42-year-old Bangladeshi man…”…
so who is responsible for fiasco debacle, if not immgiration home minster?
Another showcase that someone is working but reality is after meeting, let them go and Business as usual again. Just like the press conference on summons unable for hundreds of thousands, net2 any action? Dare to say go to war ?
All culprit starts from the top until the manager are fully responsible and all should be investigated and face the law if corruption are involved.SPRM should look into this since money are involved from evading to pay for roadtax licensed etc.
Meetings and press conference = sembang kencang
Got action meh… couple of months down the road, BAU back to old ways.
Then cook up another ‘all out war’, penat leh
habis lah…. dh xde org nk dtg kutip sampah
The managing director have to step up and explain why these breaches in regulation. Including use of foreign workers to drive vehicle. Accumulated summons is indication of breach in operation, why is it nothing done by the board? Settling millions in summons doesn’t solve the root cause of problems. It is hard, dirty and dangerous job. But being the largest in the country we would expect better ability to comply with regulation.. why else allows it to grow?
Didn’t know the MB has interest in KDEB. No wonder when I called up MBPJ regarding their irregular service, I was told to contact KDEB. Whenever I called up KDEB, they said the garbage truck got accident or under repair. They supposed to collect domestic rubbish 3x a week but no longer like that. They suka2 mari. The MB must be changed. Too long on the job and getting complacent.
obviously kdeb wont be able to collect rubbish regularly if their trucks were seized and their workers arrested, correct?
JPJ looks tough but with brain? If you seize the vehicles, your staff rubbish and our rubbish will be stinking left uncollected. JPJ nampak kuat tapi ada guna akal? Jika kamu rampas lori sampah, sampah rumah pegawai JPJ dan rumah kami akan bau busuh tidak diangkat.
