Malaysia Rail Link (MRL), the owner of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project, has halted all construction work at the affected area where a temporary steel canopy collapsed yesterday (November 18, 2025).
According to MRL, the incident happened at approximately 2pm on Road Under Bridge (RUB) No 16 along the Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) FT28 heading towards Batu Caves. It added that the temporary structure had failed and hit a Suzuki Swift.
A woman narrowly escaped death after her car was crushed by scaffolding from the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project along the MRR2 highway in Batu Caves on Tuesday (Nov 18).

“As a safety measure, all construction works in the affected area have been stopped pending a thorough investigation by the relevant authorities. Based on current information, the driver of the involved vehicle is safe. ECRL will provide immediate financial assistance to the vehicle owner to ease their burden while awaiting the results of the authorities’ investigation and the related claims process,” the company said in a statement.
“Cleanup and removal of the temporary structure have been successfully carried out under the supervision of the authorities,” the company noted, adding that the purpose of the structure was to prevent construction debris from falling onto the road.

this accident would never if happened if former PM and former Transportminister didnt create this ecrl from thin air.
this isnt the first time contruction structures damage, or even killed drivers in the past 3 years. What has government done? nothing.
Government cannot prevent this from happening. they can only act after the incident. the main party that can prevent this is the civil engineers. are they aware of the risk when they built the structure ? is the site supervisor aware the risk from using skylift over the makeshift structure. sometimes it is plain stupidity of machine operator that causes accident in workplace. so in all the engineers, site supervisor and the equipment handler that is responsible. be smart !!!!
ECRL was under which former PM which govt and which former transport minister ? so this incident can Wee be responsible?
according to your logic ECRL project was credited to BN , to PM Anjib and to former transport minister WKS…so now can they take responbility for this accident

Hope just minor injury. It’s unbelievable – the contractor just setup a stapler shape structure and expect to withstand outdoor weather. Should have angled bars to support upright to the top roofing.
It’s some one in that company person/persons incompetent attitude, behaviour, incompetent to do job, negligence, favouritism falls to catastrophic results face by that Suzuki car person , he should sue that company negligence claim to Rm 1trillion and make that company null and void to carry on any job in future and going on project under that company should give to competitive company after that thorough back ground and

The standard DOSH and NIOSH Standard Operation Procedure says whenever there is a catastrophe at a construction site, there must be a stop work order with immediate effect, at least for a period of 24 hours. This allows for rescue work, evacuation process and any necessary investigations to take place.
Let’s hope MRL pic will stand up and explain to rakyat. What cause this collapse and what’s next measures. Politician or minister please stand with us rakyat and not make media statements on behalf of mrl. Instead you should read and query mrl in their findings. U represent rakyat voice.
