KTMB to offer additional ETS services for Christmas, school holidays from December 11 to January 11, 2026

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is offering four additional Electric Train Service (ETS) services for the third term school holidays and Christmas this year, the company has said in a post.

The additional ETS services, through 22,680 tickets, will operate from December 11, 2025 to January 11, 2026, and these will cover the KL Sentral-Padang Besar-KL Sentral and KL Sentral-Butterworth-KL Sentral routes. Ticket sales open 10am today, it stated.

Two additional ETS services will be available daily on the Padang Besar-KL Sentral-Padang Besar route, while two more services will run every weekend (on Friday, Saturday and Sunday) on the Butterworth-KL Sentral-Butterworth route.

“These additional ETS trains are part of KTMB’s efforts to meet high demand when tickets for regular ETS services are sold out,” the company said in its statement.

The rail operator encouraged the public to plan their journeys and purchase tickets early to enjoy more cost-effective fares. “Passengers are reminded to arrive at the station 30 minutes in advance as entry gates will close five minutes before train departure,” it said.

Earlier this week, the rail operator sold a record 82,896 tickets in 24 hours for its ETS and Intercity services, for the travel period between January 1 to April 30.

KTM has one of the most idiotic online booking service ever. They charge a fee for online booking which doesn’t make any sense since online is suppose to reduce cost. When the world is encouraging online, KTM is encouraging offline booking.
