Alpine to have two EV convertibles by 2030, derived from 2nd-generation A110 EV and A310 fastback GT

2022 Alpine A110 S

Alpine has two convertibles in the pipeline, with both models to reach the brand’s line-up by 2030, reported Autocar. This is part of the French brand’s plan for a seven-model line-up by 2030, and its EV-only model line is currently populated by the A290 hatchback and the A390 crossover.

The two convertibles will be open-air versions of the next-generation EV A110, and a larger, Porsche 911-rivalling fastback GT model called the A310, according to the report. The second-generation A110 becomes a battery-electric model, to be based on the new Alpine Performance Platform (APP) which will offer both coupé and roadster bodystyles.

Upcoming Alpine models will use the new APP architecture that enables the use of in-wheel motors, as featured in the Renault 5 Turbo 3E (above)

The manufacturer’s sports car architecture enables the two Alpine EV models to use in-wheel electric motors, such has those which featured on the Renault 5 Turbo 3E high-performance hatchback; that is an EV homage to the mid-engined Renault 5 Turbo of 1980, and the dual, in-wheel motor powertrain of the 3E outputs a claimed 544 PS, enabling 0-100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 270 km/h.

In addition to the convertible A110 and A310 EV duo set to be introduced by the brand, the seventh model in its projected line-up is set to be a large SUV, Autocar reported.
