Ops Pemandu Warga Asing (PEWA) is well and truly underway. Between January 1 and 23, the Johor road transport department (JPJ) has acted against 459 non-Malaysian drivers for various offences including having no driving licence or insurance, and expired road tax, The Star reports.
“Under Ops PEWA, the department inspected 1,109 vehicles and issued 459 notices for various offences, with 235 vehicles seized – 152 motorcycles, 69 cars, 11 lorries and three vans,” state JPJ director Zulkarnain Yasin said today, adding that the offenders comprised 195 Pakistanis, 110 Bangladeshis, 99 Indonesians, 23 Burmese, 15 Nepalese and 17 others.
Meanwhile, the Kuala Lumpur JPJ seized 58 vehicles under Ops PEWA just from 9am to 2pm on January 20. The vehicles, including five rubbish lorries, were still registered under the local owners, and KL JPJ director Hamidi Adam said legal action will also be taken against them.

wooo.. tengok. kalau JPJ tak hebatkan penguatkuasaan, inilah keadaannya. rakyat asing pandu kenderaan tanpa insurans dan road tax. kalau kena accident, mangsa rugilah!! nasib baik JPJ sekarang sudah aktif… Bagus!!!
This is like cancer and it has been decades so not easy to remove. Continuous enforcement is necessary to make things in order for the benefit of rakyat. Good job JPJ, keep it up. Never stop.
kesian warga asing ditindas penguatkuasa
bila penguatkuasa tak mengambil tindakan yg cukup tegas ke atas warga asing yg melanggar undang2 negara ini, nanti ada pulak org yg cakap bahawa rakyat tempatan yg kena tindas
thanks to government policy, we are also dumping ground for unwanted citizens from other countries, so sampah cars suit sampah rakyat like ours.
These foreign workers come here to do jobs which most local citizens consider to be too difficult, too dirty and too dangerous. Not only just rubbish collecting; there are also what local citizens consider to be difficult, dirty & dangerous jobs in plantations, construction, factories & other sectors. These foreign workers are not leaving anytime soon when many local citizens choose to work in an air-conditioned comfortable office environment.
