The Kuala Lumpur road transport department (JPJ) has seized 58 vehicles under Ops Pemandu Warga Asing (PEWA). The operation, which targets non-Malaysians driving without licences or proper documentation, was carried out from 9am to 2pm yesterday around Wangsa Maju, Setapak and Gombak, Bernama reports.
“They were found committing various offences, including driving without a licence and insurance coverage. Some attempted to flee but were successfully detained for further action. When we checked, these vehicles were still registered under the local owners. Legal action will also be taken against them,” KL JPJ director Hamidi Adam said.
The miscreants comprised 15 Pakistanis, 13 Indians, 11 Indonesians, 10 Bangladeshis, eight Burmese and a Palestinian. Most were involved in scrap collection, while others operated small businesses. Five rubbish lorries were seized, and Hamidi issued a stern warning to contractors using foreigners as rubbish lorry drivers in violation of regulations.
All vehicles were seized under Section 64(1), while summonses were issued under Sections 23(1), 23(2) and 90(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Ops PEWA in total saw 323 vehicles inspected and 283 saman issued for various offences, and PEWA-related vehicle seizures have declined to 376 last year from 586 in 2024.

all malaysians is aware of this happening. Just happy enforcement did anything about it.
These people have been defrauding us all these while. even locals are colluding with them. Penguatkuasaan is important for the nation to uphold existing regulations and laws. It has been too long since serious “Penguatkuasaan” to bring about compliance to regulation. To Ah loke and PMX, it is this improvement in “Penguatkuasaan” that will make this government standing tall over last few government. None of past government really stands up to improve enforcement, hold officers at responsibility and call for improvement in government service and attitude. This is real governance. Not beating the bush with religion and race issues…
Why is it when it comes to motorbike, the bikes are released back to offenders without license, road tax or insurance? Or even underage.
Should have coordinate with immigration to deport these offenders back to their country and bar them from re-entry. These foreigners who don’t obey our law then GTFO of our country.
