UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has announced it sold 4,856 vehicles in February 2026, which is more than the 4,700 units it managed in the first month of this year.
With this result, the company’s year-to-date (YTD) total currently stands at 9,556 units. In its release, the company attributed the steady performance to continued demand across its core models, although it did not provide a sales breakdown by model.
Comparing UMWT’s sales result to that of vehicle registration data provided by the road transport department (JPJ), the latter showed a total of 13,591 Toyota vehicles were registered as of the end of February. As such, it is presumed that around 4,000 Toyota vehicles registered were not from official channels i.e. not sold thought UMWT.
In the first two months of 2026, UMWT has introduced a number of hybrid models, starting with the Vios Hybrid in January. This was followed by the updated Corolla Cross HEV GR Sport in early February, which was followed by the Harrier HEV and Vellfire HEV.
“Our multi-pathway approach ensures that customers are not confined to a single solution. By expanding hybrid options across sedan and SUV segments while continuing to strengthen our nationwide network, we are providing practical electrified choices supported by a reliable ownership ecosystem,” said Datuk Ravindran Kurusamy, president of UMWT.
