The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has released vehicle sales data for the month of February 2026, which saw a total of 52,414 vehicles delivered to customers.
This represents a 19% decline from the 64,298 units recorded in January 2026, with the association attributing this to a shorter working month and Chinese New Year celebrations, the latter also resulting in a one-week plant shutdown among manufacturers.
The February 2026 figure is also 19% less when compared to the same month last year that saw 65,052 units sold. Even so, the year-to-date (YTD) total in 2026 is 1% higher than it was in 2025, with 116,712 units delivered in the first two months compared to 115,501 units in the same period last year.
For the month of March 2026, the association expects sales to pick up in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri and the promotions being offered by car companies.
On the production side of things, 49,741 vehicles were produced in February 2026, which is 20% less than the 62,090 units recorded in February 2025. This brings the YTD production tally to 110,607 units, 7% less than the 119,540 units posted in the same period last year.
