Pan Borneo Highway projects in Sabah have been affected by several major constraints, reported New Straits Times.
“Utility-related problems were identified as among the main factors slowing earthworks, in addition to logistical challenges and temporary access issues within the project area.
“The state government is committed to ensuring that every development project is implemented in a well-planned manner, closely monitored and completed according to schedule for the benefit of the people,” Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor was quoted as stating.
Hajiji inspected the WP25 project that spans 14.96km from Kampung Perpaduan Datuk Moh to Sukau, which is valued at about RM269.9 million and scheduled for completion within 36 months, with a target date of February 2028. Physical progress on the project is around 12.35% to date, compared to the original scheduled target of 15.30%, while financial progress is at 11.52%, according to the report.

Sabah’s lack of progress is due to poor management of the state resources, especially human capital. Human resource development in technical and vocational skill is important for sabah which is far away from mainstream peninsular. they should invest heavily in getting vocational skill to upgrade sabahan so that this kind of infrastructure project use Sabahan companies, contractor and labours. in that way Sabah will grow and build good foundation for future growth.
mismanagement of funds or other scandals, i have no comments but obviously Sabahan have been short changed for a long time. i do wish to see a better managed state just like sarawak now.. my hat tilts for the late Abang Openg. patiently waiting for his turn to lead and he steps up so obviously fully dedicated to build up sarawak. that’s the beginning of a major state in malaysia.. they are rising very fast !!! Sabah is no where near that politically nor policy wise
Sarawak was lucky badawi sold 2000MW bakun dam at steep discount. With power comes development and progress. Water pumps need power too. Sarawak
Electricity tariffs dirt cheap.
Sabah on the other hand lack electricity. DAP minister yeo cancelled 300MW power plant in sandakan. No power means no water, no business, no jobs poverty.
In 2018, the 300MW power plant project in Sandakan was cancelled together with a 700MW power plant project in Kapar Selangor, a 1400MW project in Paka Terengganu, and a 400MW project in Pengerang Johor. The reason is that when these projects were being negotiated by the preceding PM VI administration, no consideration was given to the potential capacity payments of up to RM1.26 billion, which would have been borne by the consumers in the form of higher electricity bills.
nonsense blaming failure for own failure. its their own local politicians such as Musang Aman who conspired to corruption and stealing state resources to enrich ownself

“A minister for Roads from Nigeria was invited for a tour by his Malaysian counterpart and when he got there, his host took him on a tour to showcase various infrastructure projects and at the end of the day he had dinner at the Malaysian minister’s palatial house.
“At the end of the evening he asked his host how he had managed to do so well for himself to which the Malaysian minister took the Nigerian to his balcony and showed him a highway far off. ‘You see that highway, 10% here’ the Malaysian said,”
“When the Nigerian had taken the visiting minister round his house in Lagos, the Malaysian repeated the question, ‘how did you manage to do so well for yourself?’ he asked.
“The Nigerian took him to the balcony and asked him to look far into the horizon. ‘But I don’t see anything’ the foreigner said. The Nigerian explained, ‘That highway, 100% here’,”
