Dutch car manufacturer Spyker has made a bid for Lotus, reported Dutch auto magazine AutoWeek. AutoWeek’s unnamed sources claims the Dutch company is already in talks with Proton about the possible porchase. Spyker’s owner however, refused to confirm this but commented it could be a serious option.
Sources say Spyker intends to use Lotus Engineering’s technical know-how to develop it’s upcoming Spyker D12 Peking-to-Paris SUV (shown above). The odd name is to commemorate Spyker’s participation in the 1907 cross-country race of the same name. The concept model, first put on show at Geneva 2006 features full-time all-wheel-drive, four doors with rear suicide doors, a 500hp Volkswagen 6 litre W12 engine, carbon-ceramic matrix brakes and an all-aluminium construction.
Spyker follows Porsche’s footsteps – a sports car manufacturer releasing an SUV model that combines practicality with the sporty prestige of a sports car logo on it’s hood. Spyker also owns the Spyker F1 Team, previously known as Midland F1 Racing.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Proton sure having the headache about it, since it self having the financial problem, searching the foreign partner problem and etc…
By the way, Lotus is the Proton "only" weapon, will it sell it??
Loose Lotus and Proton would be a non-player in the automotive industry.
Weird, just as when Lotus is having a revival …soon to release the long due Esprit.
Its hard to predict P1 decision, all we know P1 have financial issue. No one knows how bad was it. P1 might think about selling Lotus, if the merger with VW talk = successfully. They dun need to rely with Lotus tech.
I think if proton gets a strong partner, they can technically go on without lotus. why not?
bear in mind that lotus cars, and lotus engineering are 2 different companies.
lotus doesnt jsut make money from selling cars and you dont have to own lotus to benefit from them. lotus engineering does projects for many manufacturers around the world, not just proton. Quite a high percentage of cars sold in europe today have had their ride and handling done by lotus.
proton should keep it as it it.
Don't be silly, I DON'T BELIEVED at all. Its only a RUMOR…….Proton's RUMORS always exist.
Why Proton sell off LOTUS? Any Benefits?
If so, Tengku Mahallee is already waiting for the sales now. Maybe Proton should consider to sell it to TM first.
do not let go Lotus for god's sake.
in the name of the all that holy, please keep the our last bastian – Lotus.
so much we've got there, but we are not even 10% explored them.
let MV Agusta's episode remind us of bad decisions cost money. big money.
I think why proton having the financial problem becouse they want tunjuk hebat. They want to be like BMW or Mercedes. Selling a big cars. However, our malaysian not affordable to buy not becouse of tak ada duit but so many tax la.. tax there tax here la… even we have AFTA. Price not much diffrence. So tiru like perodua.. produce small car. All people can buy.
Selling off Lotus would be a bad move..not many companies can actually brag about owning a company that produces supercars…plus most of the young buyers of proton cars actually buy proton cars becoz of the Lotus technology incoperated into the latest proton cars…they have this saying " Own a Proton , own a small piece of Lotus"
buy LOTUS FOR 1 POUND, FREE pROTON SOME MORE? ANYONE ;-)
norwich city fc relegated because of Proton logo on their home jersey. same as msian badminton team? lost thomas cup all because proton logo.
see , Proton is one sick 'thing'.
STOP THE BUYING, NO MORE OPEN DOORS WHEN PAY TOLLS.
Looks like Proton is dumping Lotus for their eventual merger with some big car name.
last time before even before satria gti, i remember a isuzu piazza turbo(late 80s model) 'handling by lotus' badge-i say wow,
then the saw a piece sticked behind the satria in 1999- great,
last year the vaux astra vxr is actually 'handling by lotus' – id say i trust lotus
i do spin some proton including the gti -its great, yes
lotus not bad
haha, don't think Proton with all its errors would make a major error and sell Lotus
I agree with Lotus is Proton only weapon, why should Proton sell it?
Damn, from earning into loss! now selling their weapon… so speechless… hopefully vw stand take over proton…
I doubt the bid to buy lotus will never materialized. Its a national asset maa ;-P
P1 will hurt itself (or bungkus itself) if they sell lotus.
I am sure that are lots of reasons to sell, and lots of reasons not to. Are we to know the actual reasons when anything happens ? Guess not !!
