Phoenix Orange Pearl remains available on both petrol and e:HEV versions at no extra cost. Which variant to buy

The 1.5 S at RM85,900 is the rational starting point: every petrol version uses the same 1,498 cc, 119 hp front-wheel-drive CVT package. The 1.5 E costs RM90,900, the 1.5 V RM95,900 and the 1.5 RS Petrol RM100,900. On paper, you are paying more for trim rather than mechanicals, so check the equipment list before stepping up. Pay RM112,900 for the 1.5 e:HEV RS only if the hybrid eCVT drivetrain and its quoted 205 hp matter to you; it is RM12,000 above the RS Petrol.

Verdict

The City Hatchback’s range is unusually clear on the mechanical side. The four petrol trims share 119 hp, a CVT and front-wheel drive, leaving equipment and price to decide the choice. The e:HEV RS is the distinct alternative, with 205 hp and an eCVT, but carries a substantial RM12,000 premium over the RS Petrol. Buyers should therefore decide first between petrol and hybrid, then scrutinise the trim equipment.
