Overview
The Proton Saga is an A-segment sedan with five seats, a 1.5 litre petrol engine and automatic transmission across the range. Prices start from RM38,990, putting it above the Perodua Bezza’s RM34,580 entry point. It suits buyers who want a small booted car rather than a hatchback, with simple variant choices.
Saga in 2026 — what's new
The current Proton Saga carries on into 2026 as the 2025-launched P2-14A/MC3 sedan, with Standard, Executive and Premium variants. The latest Saga headlines centre on volume and the nameplate’s long run: 8,207 units were delivered in April, while 2,203,409 Sagas have been sold since 1985. Saga Cross spyshots point to a separate Saga-based raised model, not a sedan update.

Which variant to buy
Most buyers should start with the Standard at RM38,990. It uses the same 1,499 cc petrol engine, 118 hp output, automatic gearbox type and five-seat layout as the RM44,990 Executive, so the RM6,000 step up is about trim and equipment rather than the basic mechanical package. The RM49,990 Premium is the one to choose if you specifically want the CVT automatic; it costs RM11,000 more than the Standard.

Proton Saga buyer's guides & reviews
Verdict
The Saga remains Proton’s core small sedan, and the MC3 is more than a cosmetic update: the platform has been revised and the 1.5 litre engine is new. Demand has been strong, with nearly 100,000 bookings recorded by the time of the full review. But it is not the cheapest A-segment sedan here; the Bezza starts RM4,410 lower.
