Volvo C30

Volvo Car Malaysia has launched the new 3-door Volvo C30 in Malaysia, which Volvo says is a modern interpretation of the Volvo P1800 ES combined with styling cues from the Volvo Safety Concept car. Read more about the new C30 after the jump.

Volvo C30

Under the hood is a similiar 2.4 liter inline-5 engine from the S40 producing 170 horsepower at 6,000rpm and 230Nm of torque at 4,400rpm. It goes up to a top speed of 215km/h, and gets up to 100km/h in 8.8 seconds. Shifting is via a 5-speed Geartronic automatic transmission with the option for manual sequential shifting.

The car is a four-seater as there is no flat rear bench but two individual seats. The space between the seats is filled up with an armrest. However folding down these two individual seats creates a flat floor for easy loading.

Being a Volvo, safety features include four-wheel ABS, DSTC traction control, Volvo’s Intelligent Driver Information System (IDIS) which continuously monitors the car’s steering wheel angle, and pedal positions, and the optional Blind Spot Information System or BLIS, which uses cameras in the wing mirrors to detect objects in your blindspot and warn you about them via indicators on the A-pillar. The IDIS system basically monitors various driver inputs and flashes a warning lamp indicator when the car thinks the driver is in danger.

Standard equipment level includes a multi active air filter with sensor for the air conditioning, a volume sensor, level sensor, soft loadcover for the rear luggage compartment, a 6-CD changer, power seats for the driver and passenger, leather upholstery, a 3-spoke steering wheel done in aluminium and leather, cruise control, rain sensors for wipers, auto dimming rear view mirror, cruise control, rear park assist, and 17 inch Mestra Wheels.

The Mestra wheels can be changed to Zaurak Chrome wheels, Zaurak Silver Bright Wheels, Scotia Polished wheels, Spartacus Silver Bright Wheels, and Serapis Silver Bright wheels. All of them are 17 inches in size.

Interior trim can be had with either aluminium, virtual white or light oak wood. For the exterior, 17 colours are available including 3 solid colours which are Black Stone, Passion Red, and Ice White. The metallic colours are Silver, Black Sapphire, Titanium, Barents Blue, Brilliant Blue, Electric Silver, Maple Red, Orinoco Blue, Cosmic White, Gecho Green, Matt Gold, Chameleon Blue, and Savile Grey.

It is priced at RM215,500 OTR without insurance.

Too expensive, at this price a mazda MX-5 is a better bet, and it’s a hard top convertible too!!

ys,you will be surprised that the newer generation volvos have decent consumption compared to the “bricks” of yesteryear. My S60 can go from Ipoh to JB non stop on 1 tank with 1/4 to spare. On the highway my calculated range by the on board computer on the highway is 870km.My wife’s S40 2.0 uses less fuel than my toyota wish 2.0.surprising but true.

the black-out rear hatch looks like the car is driven with the hatch removed……

pretty tempting, but not the price tag. With the same amount of money, there are plenty of more appealling cars out there to choose from…

the car is nice, but not the price…. sigh….

can’t deny that Golf and 1-series are great too, but hey, driving a Volvo is really different….

Neither is the C30 made in Sweden. Its made in Belgium. People should stop judging quality of cars by where its being made. Especially when its by well known continental makes. They have factories everywhere around the world with robots as the workers. This takes human error and tolerance out of the equation.

Sporty look, nice front, futuristic design BUT sadly a wierd back……. Well, a Volvo is still a Volvo…. Nice car…. Can’t wait to see it on Malaysian roads.. :)

OMG! I can’t believe this is even in question. Volvo is, has always been and probably always will be one of the best cars on the road. VW is the worst car I’ve ever encountered for reliability. Everyone I know that’s had one HATES it. When you pay for a Volvo you pay for more than the size and speed of it. You pay for the safety, reliability, and as for the “their so expensive to fix” bull, The parts are more expensive, but you NEVER HAVE TO FIX THEM!!! sure, cheaper to fix a ford, Chevrolet, but when your fixing them all the time…you’ll find owning a Volvo or a Saab is way cheaper in the long run.

Well, I know I’m gonna get one some day! Maybe not in Malaysia. It’s Edward Cullen’s car!
