Peugeot 208 facelift shown in Geneva, in M’sia 2016

Peugeot-208-2

The Peugeot 208 facelift, unveiled late last month, made its public debut at the on-going 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Both a standard five-door hatch (in red) and a dressed-up GT Line variant (white) are displayed, showing the B-segmenter’s mildly tweaked looks.

A facelift in the most traditional sense, the updated 208 gets a re-profiled front bumper, a larger “Equalizer” grille and a more striking set of black and chrome headlights. New, dark-tinted full LED lights feature round the otherwise unchanged rear end.

The 208 GTi was given a mid-life refresh too, with a small power bump from 200 hp to 208 hp. A new range-topping model is introduced too, called the 208 GTi by Peugeot Sport. It’s essentially a re-dressed version of the limited-production 208 GTi 30th Anniversary Edition, down to the black and red colour scheme.

Nasim, the official distributor of Peugeot vehicles in Malaysia has informed us that the 208 facelift range will be introduced in Malaysia next year. Other than the minor aesthetic updates, the existing four-speed auto’box will be replaced with a newer Aisin-sourced six-speed automatic transmission. The new Peugeot 308, 408 and facelifted 508, meanwhile, will be launched here in 2015.

The conformation the 6 speed auto is coming in 2016 is already good enough to stop buying the 208 for now and waiting for the 2016. Cause the 4AT is the only reason that is holding this car from being one of the best Euro hatches out there.

IKR. Fiesta was nice, before the whole PowerShit hit it.

I still like Ford cars, they drive really well but the reliability of the transmission is amazing. I never had any problems in the Mk2 Focus, but on the Mk3, even about 2000kms on the odometer, you can feel the grinding and juddering already.

Not sure if Nasim will bring in the 1.2 though, if they do, better queue up.

Yep, the 4 speeder is somewhat jerky. Test driven it and it does not feel smooth, although the 1.6 VTi engine is quite punchy.

Yes,Nasim should bring in the latest 1.2 Puretec turbo 3cyclinder engine instead of the outdated 1.6vti. Looking forward to test drive it

Time to bring the Peugeot 301 into Malaysia instead – best to complement the 208 as a PROPER sedan version
